  CA winds make pretty views
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 10-21-2019, 03:36 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (15)

I was riding home from a friend's in Long Beach yesterday evening, and decided to take the coast instead of the freeway for a change of pace. We're in that weird period in Southern California where Santa Ana winds come and go. They can make a mess of things, but they can also create some nice evening views (when there aren't fires). Stopped in Huntington Beach to take in the remarkably clear scenery.

The long row of lights is L.A. Harbor, with Palos Verdes extending upwards behind it. The other photo shows some oil rigs with Catalina in the background.

Show me your luggage racks! (please)

Hi,
As I'm settling in for a looooong winter, I'm thinking about the CB1100RS I'm going to be riding from next spring. I'm hoping/planning to have my SO join me for a few longer trips, and need to start thinking of a luggage solution.
I want it to be GORGEOUS, it should have decent capacity, I want it to be fairly easily detachable, and when removed I don't want pipes and brackets to ruin the absolutely stunning lines of the RS too much. Is this a tall order?

Perhaps I can ask for some pictures (with descriptions) from those of you who think you've solved this little riddle?

Thanks,

Tormod

Once again, the end of the riding season for me
Posted by: Rocky_imp - 10-20-2019, 10:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

I usually have my bikes mothballed for winter storage by the end of October and completed that task last weekend. It's a bit earlier than usual, but the weather has turned cold (4C/39F) this morning and I have some house projects to work on over the next few weeks so it was time.
We had another hot summer and not a lot of rain so I got in quite a bit of riding with the vintage bike club, with a few friends and many solo runs on the CB in the cool morning air in search of breakfast.
That's the way it is when you have four seasons. It's impossible to ride here in the winter due to the often brutal cold, road salt, ice, black ice, you name it.
We just grin and bear it until spring - but that doesn't mean we have to like it Big Grin Big Grin

  some pics from today's ride

It was simply a beautiful day for a ride..clear blue sky, white clouds, got up to around 70 degrees F

I went for a ride looking for some fall color, but couldn't find much. Still too early

Considering how few days like this we are going to see from now until May of 2020, these guys were really wasting it IMO

  2019 CB300R
Posted by: Bheezy27403_imp - 10-19-2019, 03:41 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (10)

Saw one of these at a local dealer Thursday. Good looking ride. What got me is it is a claimed weight of 313 wet. My CBR300R is claimed 357. You would think the sport bike model would be lighter right? Anyway, there may be a trade in down the road. I like the CBR but the CB is way better looking in my opinion.

  Paint Chip Aaaahhhhhh
Posted by: bigsheep_imp - 10-18-2019, 09:32 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (25)

I couldn’t tell you when it happened, but I noticed a big paint chip on the tank just behind the forks the other day.

I’m thinking about getting it repaired but I’m also thinking it could be a good time to go custom paint on the tank. Won’t do anything until I have prices, but was wondering what you guys thought/suggested.
I was thinking this with white side covers.

Maybe an homage to the tricolour?

Or keep the side covers silver and pay homage to the early 80’s cb900?

I have to post this. It has been on my local CL for months. I'm guessing he thinks at some point someone will come along....
