I was going to put up a post on the Classified Section, but being a newbie, I decided to read the rules. After doing so, decided to throw this up here in case anyone else is still looking for a 2014 DLX (as I was until recently)

I spoke with the dealer a couple times and the bike is listed for $7,999 - BUT there are additional charges they added bumping up the price to $8,700 (roughly). Given I would have still had to cover shipping from their location to my place, this wasn't a viable option for me. They were only willing to negotiate down a couple hundred $.

Researching these, the current book value for an excellent example is about $7300. Back story on the bike was that it was purchased by an older gentleman who passed away. With just under 600mi, doesn't seem like he got to enjoy it much.

Anywho - just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else wanted to investigate.

has anyone used "fluid film" on their chain ? .. "O" and "X" ring chains have their own internal lubrication and oiling a chain mainly keeps it from rusting.. in my view .. a friend of mine told me how much he really likes its properties, so I thought, I would get your opinions ..

I've had my 2017 since August and it/I just stranded me/myself for the second time with a blown out battery. Both times were triggered by using the hazards for mere minutes. Eliminating some of the cycles of testing... my most recent pass was to skip bringing it back with the Battery Tender Jr, on which it lives full time when not in use, and get the "good smart charger" have at it all day yesterday and it said everything was "fine" including a 12 hr voltage retention test it passed. Rested it for 8 hr...

Got up today... ran the battery tester on it... declared perfect. Installed it.. started... alternator was throwing perfect juice. I got the EFI fault indicator but after the first battery failure I found that disappeared after a short ride... just has to rebuild the fuel map I guess.

Now I'm used to my two KZ1000P's and their Aurora Borealis of lights on them running FOREVER on a not dissimilarly sized battery. LED emergency (cop) lights... incandescent everything else. This bike won't bust thru 11 min. Call it on the 99% done at 10.5. I'm certain the blinkers on this are incandescent dual filament because the illumination ramps up and down slowly so I'm starting to think it's those things. Maybe this is all you get from an AGM into 8 incandescent filaments plus whatever else is sucking electrons when you have the key off but the hazards on. I royally hate "clever" because it's statistically so rarely executed by people who actually are clever.

Ok... took a break and looked into that part... it seems on mine at least it's an 1157 bulb (not perfect confidence in that yet). For a Phillips 1157, that's 27 + 8.3W or 35.3 for both or 141.2W for all four. 141.2/12V = 11.8A and probably higher as the battery voltage falls and the light isn't as hot/resistive. So.. it's an 11.8 A-H battery.. putting the calculator away.. Computed over a super favorable (to the battery) 20 hr window I notice.... i.e 0.6A.... so less to way less over a much shorter discharge period due to increased internal heating... So, new, that 11.8A will last (ideally) 1 hr but when you factor in not new and non-ideal (heating and some chemistry decay), I'm not in shock that I barely make 10 min and more like 5-6 if I want the thing to actually start when I turn them off. So... really... bad design (35yr getting on to planes 2-4 times/week to go fix other companies' designs). They put in a too small battery and then after installing an LED headlight, they put in incandescent bulbs that can each double as a toaster.

Calling this mystery solved... I should see if the computer in the bike will allow LED's into it's presence without screwing with some other thing inside. Has anyone installed LEDs into your turn indicators and if so, did you have to mess with anything at the blinker control end to make it work right? Thanks in advance.

For now, I'm going to buy me a portable jump source and keep that on the bike and commit to the universe if I ever run into a "designer" who decided to design out the kick starter on any bike, street or dirt, to get arrested for what I do to him.

Took a ride out to Bloomsburg, PA today to visit Bill’s Old Bike Barn. I had heard about it before but had no idea what I was in for. It’s a museum of bikes of course but also just about anything you can think of. It’s like American Pickers on steroids! You could spend days in this place and still miss a lot of it. Might have to be a rally stop

Hi guys, just thinking about making a fender eliminator, ive bought some sheet Aluminium and am about to get to work on it. The question i have is regarding the tail light, the particular one i want to use is LED, are there any modifications i need to make to use an LED tail light instead of a standard bulb light? Im handy with most things mechanical but electrical is my downfall.

I have been riding with these boots for a few months now. These are low/medium rise boots that are waterproof, snug and comfortable, not too rider-geek-looking, and uses the BOA Lacing System. Simply put: They are amazing. My ol' trusty high-mileage Pumas have been relegated to yardwork duties and I needed something as good or better. Enter: Icon Patrol 2.

PROS:

Low rider's geek-gear appearance.[/li] [li]I think they look great.[/li] [li]Excellent ankle support.[/li] [li]Not too hot, not too cold in terms of comfort under various temperatures.[/li] [li]Incredibly durable and scuff resistant.[/li] [li]Probably the greatest surprise: Incredibly easy/fast to get on and off using the BOA Lacing System. When the boot is on, it ain't coming off. You'll lose your foot with the boot before losing the boot.

When talking with Mtneers at the East Coast Rally I found out that although he had been to Portsmouth Ohio several times, he had never been to the best place on earth (imo) to get a steak, which just so happens to be located in Portsmouth Ohio.

So we decided to meet there. Today all the stars lined up, perfect weather forecast for West Virginia and perfect weather for southern Ohio so we agreed to meet there at 12:30 today, It's about a 2 hour ride for both of us. I got there a little early (duh) and Ron got there right on time, and on his CB no less. It was cold when I took off so I rode the FJR for wind protection.

Had to laugh, I unconsciously said Mmmmm every time I took a bite. Did it about 1/2 dozen times before realizing I was doing it. man, what a great steak.

After lunch, we headed over to the Mural wall. a 1/2 mile long display of dozens of giant murals painted on a flood wall. We stopped and took pics at the one for the Portsmouth Motorcycle Club the Nation's Oldest Cycling Club formed in 1893





After that we said our goodbyes, split up and headed our separate ways home.
