  100,000 KM on 2013 CB1100
Posted by: bigsheep_imp - 08-26-2021, 01:50 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (7)

My CB came to me with 3200 miles on it in February 2016. Last week while out on a ride with fellow member Gurgus Bee I rolled 100000KM. Considering how short the Canadian ride season can be, and the fact that I'm a family man with two young boys this was quite the feat. I'm still quite happy with the CB although we could both stand to lose a few lbs. The CB's mini-me the 1981 CB125S has me valuing weight much more these days.

Bye for now - Guzzi replaces CB1100
Posted by: Olof_imp - 08-26-2021, 12:33 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (41)

The CB1100RS was a great friend on the 3000 km trip to Lapland. However as the days went by I was increasingly bothered by the handlebar buzz. I had tingling fingers for several days after returning home. I tried Grip Puppes, heavier bar ends and different grips with little difference so I gave up and sold it. Instead this ended up in my garage - a Moto Guzzi V7iii Carbon, with very low miles. Compared to the CB its totally antique, slow and basic but eager, fun and full of character. Fuelling is not on par with the CB but surprisingly good considering the crude hardware (single throttle and basic Magneti Marelli MIUG3 ECU). Gearbox is slow but really sweet. Most importantly my hands are fine on it. The looks - matte black.with red valve covers is an eyesore to some but I happen to like it. I miss the CB a lot, but most the seating position. Guzzi for some reason gave this bike a low seat, forward-ish pegs and a low seat and the combination does not work for me. Agostini rearsets and a higher seat is in the mail, we'll se if that helps or if I need to change the handlebar too. Early days still but so far I'm as happy as can be without a CB. I guess I'll be spending less time here now so bye for now and thanks for a really great forum.

  New water-cooled?
Posted by: franov_imp - 08-25-2021, 06:53 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (35)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE17JeVhLd0

as you can see there, magazines in Asia are starting to talk about that..

would you buy such a model, with water cooling and DCT (as it happens to see from the images..)?

seems heavily based on the new CB350 lines.

personally, never !

Has anybody seen this T-Rex backrest yet? Or does anybody have one? I was wondering if it might be worth a try as the wife isn't comfortable with out one.

Yestreday I was meeting up with my buddies on the BRP but as I had to pick up supplies for an upcoming party at our home I decided to take my wife's Mini Cooper S on the BRP . What a blast that was , excellent road holding and very comfortable in the very hot weather : it was as good as a bike ride. With me planning to give up riding in the next couple of years and buying my own Mini Country Man I might plan to sell my 2013 earlier than first thought . My question is : as my 2013 ABS has Vin # 00002 would that make the bike more collectable (valuable ?) It has many upgrades and the Moriwaki stainless steel 4 into 4 , Ohlins shock and many other upgrades .
What is your thought about the Vin Number being of some value ?

  2 into 2 exhaust
Posted by: bvictory_imp - 08-25-2021, 06:41 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Is it possible to install a 2 into 2 exhaust setup (seen on the DLX) model onto a standard 2014 model.. I bought the bike used and the last owner installed a Delkovich exhaust that I don’t like. I like my motorcycles quiet.

I see a lot of posts about deleting the 02 sensor for better low end response ect. Has anybody ever tried one of these?

  your trailer experience
Posted by: j3gq_imp - 08-25-2021, 02:14 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

I have used a similar trailer (photo) for years, for a lighter motorcycle. With a little bit of "gettin' used to" one could even load and unload the m/c alone and without any help.
Yet, I have a little bit of a doubt whether to buy such a trailer for the CB, and whether this can be done by one man alone. Of course the motor will help to push her up on the trailer, and I can strap her down tightly. But it's still a heavy motorcycle and I wonder if she will lean more and more during the ride.

Any experience you could share ? would a platform trailer with a firm lock-down device for the front wheel be the better choice since it allows you to make use of the side stand ?
