Value of 1983 honda cb1100f?

Took an afternoon spin today, I was behind a couple cars for a mile or so when a newer 1200 Sportster w/straight pipes caught me. A long, tightly curved 30 and 35 mph road. The 2 cars pulled off at the same road and we are off to the races. He roared off first, until then I didn’t know if he wanted to go or not. I was on him like glue, sticking my wheel up next to him on the few short straights. He was really on it too through the corners, using both lanes to stay on the road. It was funny to watch following. We could hit 90 or so, on the straight he was about 65 through the turns. We slowed up for a second and I took off, all turns for a mile and a half until a stop sign at the next village. I was having too much fun to think clearly and lost him. Hardest I pushed it yet, those hard skinny tires make me nervous to say the least. The new shocks worked great it was planted and in control through it all, some turns are a little dippy. I was running the turns about 75+ and lost him in the mirrors after the first few.
I slowed with the stop coming and he caught up. At the stop sign he shuts his bike off and says “I had one just like that, is it an early 80’s one?” I said, no its brand new 1100 fuel injected. “Oh, thank God” he said “my old one never went like that” He liked the bike but said it was way to quiet.
This was the most fun I’ve had on the bike to date, bike handled well as did the shocks. I was able to push it enough to use the whole chicken strips on the back tire. It was a blast……
Not much on Nantucket as far as tar goes, here's the road. I only have about 50 sq miles to ride.

Let my wife ride my bike, she has been riding a scooter and out of practice using a clutch. well the end result was a stop and drop on the left side. now I need to replace clutch lever, rear signal on left side and engine cover on left side. I am about to order the engine cover and want to know if there are any issues in the replacement process I need to know about.

I have logged 510 miles on my CB1100 to date. This machine is much faster and more torquey than my old CB750F (I think it has about 16 more horses, with a slight increase in weight). For that reason I am carefully learning to ride it. I like to ride fast, after all, I did not purchase a machine with 8.5 lbs/HP (incluldes me) to do 55mph everywhere. Having said all this, I do find a problem with wind on the bare bike. I am planning to buy the Chic Design Road Comet, hoping it will help. Does anyone have a better suggestion for a fairing?

I've been doing a bit of reading, purely out of interest mind you as I don't really have any intention using one of these on my bike. (This is an example of the kind of thing I tend to fixate on at night when dealing with my sleep disorder. )

I wanted a small bag just to carry a few items on my rides like a water bottle, snacks, maybe a light rain jacket. Kept checking out different bags but didn't like a lot of the mounting systems until I took a closer look at the Kriega system of straps.

This is one of their smaller bags which suits my needs and they do have larger units plus you can piggy back small bags on the top of the larger bags.



When empty the bag has a low profile so its easy to swing your leg over the seat (I used to ride a BMW R1200RT and had to be careful not to kick the tops of the big saddlebags). Those silver alloy clips connect the bag to the mounting straps. The straps on the bag itself also have quick release buckles.



The adjustable mounting straps wrap around the conveniently located subframe under the CB1100 seat. You could also just connect the straps together and loop them under the seat.



The nice thing is that you can quickly detach the bag itself from the straps, leave the straps mounted and tuck them underneath the seat.



There are a bunch of less expensive tail or seat bags but their mounting systems of straps wrapped around passenger pegs, etc. didn't look too secure. The Kriega system seems robust as well as versatile.

Educating myself on forums and how to embed video...TEST

Some owners have shared a similar embarrassing experience as I have by leaving the turn signal on for a few blocks after a lane change or turn. I'm used to bikes that have self-canceling turn signals and wondered if a mod similar to the flashing brake lights was available for the turn signals. I came across this after a quick google search. Has anyone tried this mod or had experience with this in the past? I don't think this one is compatible with our left hand only turn signals but maybe there is one I'm missing that works for the CB11.

Many of us have had multiple if not many motorcycles. It's only natural that some of those bikes would be your favorites.

As far as street bikes go, I have had 6 Harleys, 9 Hondas, 3 Suzukis, 1 Kawasaki, 7 Yamahas, 1 Triumph and 1 BSA ( plus a bunch of dirt bikes...mostly Yamahas)

There are several that stand out in my mind:

77 KZ 1000 B Kawasaki (probably my all time favorite, big, powerful, smooth, beautifully proportioned, ...and much like the CB 1100)
04 and 01 FZ-1 Yamahas (like the bike so much I bought 2 of them..awesome power, brakes and handling, big tank, 6 speed, great solo sport tourer with soft luggage and a tank bag)
81 GS 850 G Suzuki (nice mid size shafty, very comfortable and large fuel capacity)
83 GS 1100 E Suzuki ( brute of a motorcycle for its time)
76 GT 750 Suzuki ( really nice tourer with a Windjammer 3 Fairing, Bates trunk and Eclipse tank bag...and I loved that 2 stroke 3 cylinder burble at idle and wail while accelerating.)

These have been my all time favs. One thing that stands out to me, is they all my favs have inline motors and are mostly liter bikes. I've had singles, twins..both v's and parallel, triples, and fours both inlines and V's.... 2 strokes and 4 strokes, air cooled, and liquid cooled, automatics, 3 speeds 4 speeds,5 speeds, and 6 speeds, electric start and kick start, chain drive, belt drive and shaft drives, carbureted and fuel injected, and I just keep coming back to those big 4 stroke inline 4 liter bikes.

Honorable mentions:

06 Honda ST 1300 ( Simply awesome for long distance travel, but a pia around town where its weight and bulk become a liability)

2000 Honda 750 Nighthawk ( great very low maintenance all arounder with hydraulic valves. Easy to work on when you had to, no epa crap. On the downside it was small, and lacked power and brakes ... Things the CB 11 address)

Havent had the CB 11 long enough to see if it will make the list of all time favs but it certainly has the credentials to do so. Wish it held more gas, but thats a small matter, at 63, I can only ride so far these days anyway before I need to get off and straighten achy parts.
