Is anyone getting close to the 8000 mi checkup? Flipping through the owner's manual when I first got the bike, I recall seeing this bike needs valve inspection/adjustment every 8k miles and was stunned. Is the valve train made by Ducati??? I doubt any adjustments will be required, but the service will still cost a significant amount of $$.

I'm only at 2400+ miles since getting the bike in early May. Bike has been in the shop for about 20 days of ownership. I think I'm on track to easily do 8k every 4-5 months (until wx turns very cold when I'll puss' out and drive my cage).

Made my new lady a place at the head of the garage today, it's going to be hard to keep the old ones exercised, I default to the 1100 now automatically when I go to jump on to go somewhere....

My intention was to leave this bike looking stock and oem vintage and that included leaving the original mirrors in place.

But, true to my personal aesthetic they came off today in favor of a set of bar end mirrors.

I'd post a pic but you've all seen them before. How about you? Stock mirrors or aftermarket?

Has anybody installed their own or can tell me by looking @ yours how many spacers are used? Mine showed up with hardware bag open & everything rolling around in box. 4 bolts & 3 spacers is all there is. Thinking need 4 each. Was a place in box where it could escape.

I thought I was going for a more casual touring style boot, and the SIDI fit well, but decided if I'm going through the trouble to buy and wear riding boots, wanted something with actual protection( especially ankle) I would have like the model up but it was $380 compared to the $300 I chose. It had metal edges, leather front and cinch adj interior.
They have some very knowledgeable people who work there, Bobby who is an ex-racer teaches me quite a bit each time I go in, he is great!
Of course I may have troubles sending back the Tour Master Solution WP Air boots because FedEx left the box on my step with no plastic and the rain storms soaked through to the actual shoe box ...so not sure Comp Access. will approve a return for refund :-(

My shop manual arrived today, I was able to torque the front engine bracket and engine hanger to the proper value after the SW-Motech crashbar install..The Helmic looks complete and I'll be using it often.. My Corbin seat also arrived today, I had to shim the rear bracket, now it latches properly. As soon as I placed my feet on the pegs I felt a huge difference, the more I rode it the more I liked it. I don't slide forward and my knees are better aligned with the tank,this seat fits my seat, it is wider and firmer vast improvement, the collective knowledge of this forum helps in the decision process. As many of you have stated, the grips on the CB provide no cushion at all to the palm and wrist, but I simply did not want to replace the grips. I found a very neat alternative in the July issue of RIDER. They are called "Original Grip Buddies Super Sharkskin Neoprene Grip" wraps.

These simply wrap around your existing grip and provide several advantages. They are easily removed restoring the bike to stock configuration. They increase the circumference of the grip giving the operator a better mechanical advantage on the throttle, and they provide a soft cushion to isolate vibration and road shock from the palm and wrist. If you install heated grips, which is what these were developed for, the heat will easily pass through the wrap to your hands.

Honest, I don't work for these guys, these are my own thoughts as I installed them this morning. Now I can wear my summer riding gloves without fear of carpal tunnel syndrome. Very easy, whole thing takes about 5 minutes. Just type in "grip buddies" in Google. Order for ST-1300 to fit the CB1100. Here is a picture of mine.

Anyone know where I could order the oem silver bar ends seen on other CB1100 models???

I've been going crazy trying to find them online, only luck I've had has been on ebay, there are some that look similar.

I've been looking for something to replace the stock muffler and I ended up at the same shop I found my luggage rack. Sandy Run Motorcycles where old British bike reign. And what better looking pipes are there than on the Triumph twins and triples of the 70s? Rick has a large selection of reproduction mufflers and I seen a reverse cone megaphone that looked good. Rick said take it home and see if it will work and if not, bring it back. So I did. Worked most of the afternoon today and finally got it all together. A little longer than I wanted but a definite improvement over the stock pipe. Oh, and the cost? $77.00!
