  Got my first rock chip!
Posted by: degenex_imp - 07-08-2013, 11:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Well, like the title says, I got my first rock chip. Just over 6 weeks at 1900ish miles. Got it on the commute to or from work, knew it was coming since I drive on the interstate so much. Now my bike has personal character I guess.
3 pics in this series, note all the bugs!

  ABS vs Not
Posted by: LiveToRide_imp - 07-08-2013, 10:57 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (31)

I'm purchasing this week and I was going to get the Non ABS as it was all they had but another dealer just let me know that have an ABS model. I like the idea of ABS since my lightning quick reflexes are now only thunder quick and I'm thinking the ABS could make up the difference. Anyone out there have an opinion on the differences? Do they up the maintenance cost or are they problematic in any way??

  Power Commander
Posted by: FJR919_imp - 07-08-2013, 10:35 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (14)

Hello all, I'll do an introduction after I get this message out.
Having a Power Commander on my 3 street bikes, I miss it on my new CB1100. Like other bikes, it feels lean from 2000 to 4000 rpm.

Dynojet was able to borrow a new bike from a dealer for its install video, but not to make a fuel map. The release of a Power Commander awaits a volunteer with a stock CB1100 in the Las Vegas area (or willing to get his or her CB1100 there) to run on their dyno to develop a fuel map. This person would get one free. If I lived within riding distance I would do it in a heartbeat.

Any volunteers?

  Affordable Rear Box
Posted by: HondaJon_imp - 07-08-2013, 09:38 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - No Replies

If you are like me, you have to carry a few things now and then on the bike, and are shocked at the price of most rear boxes. I just bought an "EMGO" box for the CB. (Have had one on the XR650L since day one).

It is nothing fancy, but works great and is easy to take off when you don't need it, plus it holds my helmet just fine. The best part, it's $72.99......

Started to collect the Heat Out undergarments to take on the heat

The H/B Journey 42L bag silver tops match the side covers so well thatvI nay not get them color matched to the tank. Also I have a Daytona rear rack/36L trunk which makes fabrication necessary to mount the rear signal lights further back.

  Vin numbers
Posted by: rayder10_imp - 07-08-2013, 03:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi All,

New to the site, I just paid for my new CB1100 and picking it up tomorrow in Harrisonburg VA. Quick question if anyone know the answer to.

I was negotiating between two dealers and one had the model as CB1100 A and the other had it listed as CB1100 D?

I decided to go with the Vin ending #000100 with no ABS

Your thoughts please, I am figuring that maybe one has ABS but really not sure.

Thank you,

Rayder10

  Minor cable issue
Posted by: Obliviontoad - 07-07-2013, 02:09 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (6)

CB1100 will be going in for a visit to the dealership. Was going over the bike and looked at this connector:

The wire cover is pulled away from the tape and is crimped a little. Its just unsightly, and likely cosmetic, but its not fun. The worst part? I have no idea what it is, does, or connects to.
Its right under the air cleaner. Here's a stock pic of the location:

Noticed the cable was fairly warm likely because it is hanging lower than it should. Could be it got hot and just became marfed like that. No bath this week... I hate wiring.

  Replacing plastic parts
Posted by: Buffalohead_imp - 07-07-2013, 11:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

The last 2 BMW's I had, I replaced the cheap plastic oil filler caps with nice metal chrome ones. I also have a Suzuki TU250X, which is a fun little bike. I replaced the plastic oil filler cap with a good metal one made for a big Suzuki cruiser. Much higher quality.

Do any of you know of a good metal replacement oil filler cap for the CB1100? It's not a big deal but it would be nice.
Thanks!
