Cheers!

  Chrome Care
Posted by: Jim21680_imp - 07-13-2013, 05:25 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

This is the first bike I've owned with large amounts of chrome, and I really don't know how to care for it yet. For the stainless steel headers and exhausts on my previous bikes, I've simply used isopropyl alcohol, with good results...but I'm guessing the chrome on our CBs will need a protectant of some sort. Would you use normal automotive wax? Tips appreciated.

*Edit: By "large amounts of chrome", I guess I'm just referring to the fenders and handlebars. Everything else seems to be just chromed plastic.

I went for the safer jacket, should be good for temps 80 and less, kinda heavy jacket, weighs 7or 8 lbs!

  Dart developing flyscreen for CB1100
Posted by: Scoobynut_imp - 07-12-2013, 03:29 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (71)

The guy I talked to at Dart, Steve, said he himself just bought a CB1100 and will be picking it up next week. Here's the email reply I received from him when I inquired if they would be developing a screen for our bike:

"Hi John,

We certainly are - in fact, I've just bought one today! Collecting it next week and we'll get straight to work. I'll let you know as soon as it's available.

Best regards,
Steve"

This is just the screen I've been waiting for as I didn't want to mount a large screen on this bike (I already have a bike with one of those), but am looking to get some wind off my chest for those occasional day trips. Here's their website:

http://www.dartflyscreens.com/

I also told Steve I was hoping they would come up with a mounting system similar to what they have for the Kawi W800 as I'm not a real fan of screens that mount on the headlight bucket nuts.

Pictures of Dart flyscreen on the W800. Very discreet and looks to be high-quality:

Well, now I've seen it all. I think those crafty Chinese are at it again, this time wrangling for the money of the absolutely ludicrous. While the idea is great... who'd want this on their head? You'd probably start hearing voices after using it.

My anti lock non anti lock brake
Posted by: the Ferret - 07-11-2013, 11:32 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (56)

Always felt the rear brake on my CB was a little powerless. Tonight I tried several times to lock it up. Could not do it. At one point I was running down a long straight road at 50 mph, no other vehicles in sight, so I pulled in the clutch and crushed the rear brake pedal. It just slowly slowed me down.

So even though I bought a bike without anti lock brakes, I got one anyway lol
