Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - ChipBeck_imp - 07-18-2013 Gentlemen, Like most of the enthusiasts here, I enjoy buying a new motorcycle, but the process of setting it up so that it suits me is even more fun. Here's a few photos of my CB11 as I photographed it this morning after taking it out of my living room where I worked on it last night and before putting it back into the garage. My first modifications were to rotate the bars slightly forward in the mounts, angle the clutch and brake levers down just slightly, adjust the foot brake and shift levers to suit me, and the elimination of the bulky rear license plate bracket with a new one that I made myself. I replaced the stock seat with the genuine leather seat I had made to my specs by Corbin, replace the stock silencer with a Staintune, replaced the meager factory toolkit with a more complete toolkit under the seat. I have four different sets of handlebars that I'll be trying out one by one to make a selection. Last night I installed a Road Comet faring painted silver to match my side panels. I really, really like the way that faring looks. It went on quickly and easily with quality hardware and everything aligned perfectly. I removed the reflectors from the front fork legs. The next thing I want to attack is the unsightly catalytic converter. I don't know if it's possible to make a stainless heatshield that would cover the collector and the converter or if I'll have a new collector built without a converter but with a bung so the O2 sensor could be hooked up. I'll figure it out. The rest of the bike is so finely detailed and most pleasant to look at with the exception of that collector and converter that looks like it was cobbed together at the last minute with its unsightly welds and odd combination of shapes. I really like this bike, the way it rides and runs, but especially the way it makes me feel when I roll it out of the garage. All the best. RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - Ole_imp - 07-18-2013 looking great chip thanks for the pics RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - HikerToo_imp - 07-18-2013 nice. How is that seat now that you've had it a little while, how much better feeling than stock? RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - the Ferret - 07-18-2013 Looking good there Chip. Its nice when you get one set up the way you like it. RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - CB4ME_imp - 07-18-2013 What a great set of modifications. Form truely meets function on your bike. Outstanding work. I love it! RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - rockster5_imp - 07-18-2013 Definately drool-worthy beautiful setup RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - ChipBeck_imp - 07-18-2013 (07-18-2013, 08:43 AM)HikerToo_imp Wrote: nice. HikerToo, The more I ride on the Corbin seat the better it gets. I want to go out for an all day ride to really test it but it's so hot here I can only ride at night. A riding vampire if you will. From the few hours I've spent on it I can imagine doing a multi day road trip on this bike now. I wouldn't even consider that on the stock seat. Chip RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - SUPERCRUZ_imp - 07-18-2013 Great looking setup. RE: Chip Beck CB11 so far....... - Inline4_imp - 07-18-2013 Chip, your 11 looks fantastic and I hope it performs the way you want it too. I do have one comment (imagine that ) and one question. The comment is you forgot to mention that you also removed the tank decals. heck that alone is worth at least .00000001 horsepower! ![]() The question I have for you is this.........................Have you carried a passenger since you installed the Corbin? If so, has the pillion commented on the comfort of the seat as opposed to the oem saddle? I really like the way the Corbin looks and will probably buy one if the passenger comfort is the same or better than stock. Again, great job suiting the bike to yourself. She IS beautiful. Jim, You are very observant, I forgot about those decals. I have carried a passenger a couple times and she liked the Corbin a lot better than the stock seat. My Corbin seat looks stock but the passenger pillion is over 20% wider (11 inches vs. 9 inches on the stock seat) so more of her butt is supported, the Corbin memory foam is more comfortable, and it's nicer to sit on leather than vinyl. I believe any passenger would rather sit on my new seat than the old one. Chip |
