I was looking forward to attending this year's Progressive IMS Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds. It's a great opportunity to take demo rides and check out all of the products on display. It's always right after the SEMA trade show that I attend for business, so I got home and checked the website, and found out that the shows were cancelled this year.

"We have news to share today with our IMS Family. After 40 years of producing The International Motorcycle Shows and IMS Outdoors, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the IMS Tour in 2022.

The powersports industry is at a crossroads with where and how brands promote their products amidst the continued manufacturing and sourcing delays associated with the pandemic. These current hurdles that our brand partners are facing would have made it difficult for us to produce an IMS that would meet your, and our, expectations. Therefore, we will not be moving forward with the planned 2022 events, including the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show.

Recently bought a 2017 EX mode with 8,000 mile; and well I’ve noticed if I sometimes turn the high beam on there’s a small delay from when I turn the switch to when the high beams activate.

It’s not 100% replicable, but it’s noticeable at times. Albeit I haven’t been on a bike in over a decade - this isn’t normal? My old kawasakis from years past I don’t recall having this.

Since last season, I was looking for a heated gear, mostly gloves, but a few times my chest got chilly as well.
Tested variety of battery-operated gloves but all of them had fingers length issue...too long, however some of them were of very good look and quality.
Finally, after some research, I found a battery-operated heated jacket in a store near where I work but due to some issues had to return it.

This time, I found a different local store that had everything I needed and decided to go by 12V, not battery.
The heated gear includes:
* skinny liner that can be used with both of my jackets
* gloves, not perfectly moto but I am OK with it as these fit 85-90% perfect, no bulky fingers ...
* independent, two-channel temp control, SAE adapter harness+++ , all plug N play.

If this set up works for me, I will extend my moto season by at least one month and it looks like as of next season, I may tailgate our Defender of the Realm...

Back in 1986 I crossed off an important destination that I had secretly been hoping to see since age thirteen. I had been working for the airlines for just a few years but when the chance came along, I got a space available pass (you just pay the tax) and boarded a Pan Am Boeing 747 to Rio. It was everything it was advertised to be and much more, I was doing something I had always dreamt of doing at a much younger age of 35 and that trip stayed with me.

At age 53 I renewed my love affair with Rio. I began traveling there when my airline began doing the heavy maintenance at Varig the Brazilian airline. I would go for a couple of weeks at a time until Varig eventually went out of business. Eventually in 2009 the airline I worked in closed it's doors as well. By 2012 I had to taken early retirement and since then I've lived the life of a 70 year old retiree.

A few things have happened since July of 2022. First, I discovered a wonderful
Brazilian singer by the name of Roberta Sa. I never thought I could fall in love again at my age but dang it, Roberta stole my heart when I wasn't looking. Second, I bought a pair of Perellis adventure tires for my CB in the hopes of doing some motorcycle camping as far north as Tennessee. Third, and this was the kicker, my landlord raised my rent. Normally none of these events would have pushed me in the direction I'm about to go, but that darn Roberta, the adventure tires, the higher rent, and the fact that I can get a two bedroom apartment in Copa Cabana Rio de Janeiro with a garage, and maid service and within stalking distance from Roberta's house for about $780.00 a month. well I guess you know were this is heading.

I have a friend who works for an airline and has promised to accompany me on the exploratoy initial trip to Rio. And should I insist going through with my adventure, he would ship my CB on a freight aircraft as soon as I am there to receive it. Yes, there's a lot of planning to be done, but Roberta and the thousands of miles of highway along the Brazilian coastline are whispering my name.

Back in Cuba when I was 10, my father asked me if I wanted to learn to speak English, to which I replied NO!. He then reminded me that I had always wanted to see the snow, and that if I went to Miami to live with my aunt I could actually see some snow. He lied to me to get me out fo Cuba just before everything went to he**. Now I'm asking myself if I still have one good adventure left in me. Well at least I'll have the right tires.

If you've been around the site, you already know that its future is uncertain and we've talked of ways to keep it going, facebook, alternatives, etc.

Yesterday, it was down for a few houirs and I thought that was maybe it. It occurred to me that one way for us to contact each other if the site were to really go silent would be to post things on ADVRIDER, whether for typical help on tech matters, or for everybody here to at least communicate with each other.

That would be ironic of course, because I think this site exists because people originally "met" at ADV and decided to create this site. But perhaps a number of forum members don't know about ADV.

8 years ago I was on my way to work in the morning twilight cruising along on the freeway at about 70-75 MPH when, while in a long left hand sweeper, I managed to hit a chunk of road concrete from a pothole that was sitting in the middle of my lane. I hit it with both tires and popped the front one. Put a small ding in the wheel in the process. The wheel is serviceable, but that has been bugging me ever since.
Well, I ran across a deal on a wheel and tire with the brake rotors still on it for $250 shipped out of GA. To replace the rotors alone is $350 EACH.
The tire is a Dunlop, but for the price I can live with it.

Why did Honda feel the need to arrange the valve clearances the way they did, shim under bucket? What engineering/performance gain do we get from that? Surely it would have made more sense to go with the usual bucket and shim setup that is so much easier for the average bike owner to deal with, not necessitating the removal of the camshafts to adjust the valve clearances?

With the pandemic work from home situation, me and my buddy decided to spend a couple of weekends making a live action short with our bikes.

Is there a repair option for replacing low pressure light led in the tach?
Light never worked and switch checks good.
Have not checked wire , that is next on list
