These last two days. On the ST, not the CB. 115 miles yesterday, 56 miles today. Yesterday was colder but it gave me the opportunity to test the electric glove liners I got for Christmas. Nice and toasty when plugged into their own controller, not so much when plugged into the jacket liner and run on same controller.

Today I was only able to get out for a little over an hour. Today I wanted to test the new point and shoot camera my wife got me. Took me awhile to work the new smaller buttons... Learn how to hold it...And to get my fat fingers out of the way of the new lens

On my way home I stopped for a pic op on Main St in the little town I live in along the Ohio River. 2 1/2 hours upriver in the direction my bike is facing lies the border of West Virginia, directly across the river is Kentucky ( the wooded hillside on the right in the picture) and an hour behind the bike is Indiana. All great states to ride in.

Anyhow, rain comes tonight after midnight, and all day tomorrow. At least it will wash some of that dang salt off the road. Then again they are predicting snow again Thursday. Looks like I will get to ride New Years Day as is a custom of my brother and I ( weather permitting) as they are predicting mostly cloudy with a high of 31. Electrics will be welcomed then!

I mentioned in another thread that I had ordered a new Arrow slip-on exhaust for my CB1100 back around Thanksgiving. I ordered this through a family friend who runs Richmond Superbike in Richmond VA. I am familiar with Arrow as a performance exhaust supplier from my previous bike which was a 2011 Triumph Bonneville SE. Arrow is a preferred factory aftermarket supplier for Triumph motorcycles. Muffler finally came in a couple days before X-Mas and my Dad, who lives in Richmond, was kind enough to pick up the part and deliver it to me in time for X-Mas. We have had several very nice days this past week and I was able to install the muffler. Today I was able to take a nice 30 mi ride as temps were near 60 in Northern VA.

My first impression of the muffler is that is is a quality piece. Materials are first rate with primary construction of stainless steel. Welds are beautiful and fit and finish excellent. The muffler is slightly smaller and lighter than stock but stock like in appearance. Muffler even has tabs to take the stock muffler heat shield. The end cap is held on by 6 stainless torx nuts. The muffler comes with a built in baffle for noise reduction but by appearances can be removed. The muffler is fully homologated for road use and papers stating this fact are included with the muffler. The muffler also comes with a high quality pipe clamp to replace the OE clamp. I made the mistake of trying to use the OE pipe clamp and found there is not enough adjustment to fully tighten the muffler to the main header. I had to pull the muffler off and install the Arrow clamp which is a nice piece in its own right. I did use a bit of RTV high temp silicone copper sealant on the slip joint before installing the muffler and tightening the clamp Install is straight forward and everything fits perfectly. Total install takes about 20 min.

My impression of the sound is that it is definitely louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud. Bike exhibits a nice rich rumble at idle and revs smoothly to redline. I have included a vid below with a sound bite. I also installed a K&N filter with the exhaust muffler. My bike exhibits no back fire or popping on deceleration. Power feels a bit more instantaneous. Nothing mind blowing but figure I picked up a couple HP. My goal was not the HP gain but a better overall sound for the bike. I feel this muffler accomplished this for me.

For those interested, the price of this muffler is ~$540 shipped. This is far cheaper than the Staintune. I liked the Staintune a lot but could not bring my self to drop almost $900 on a slip on muffler knowing the Arrow was out there. I did see one vendor on E-Bay who had two Arrow mufflers for the CB1100 new in box ready to ship for $464 + $40 shipping. A very good deal in my estimation. Figure ~$50 for the K&N. Purchased that through Amazon. For ~$600 the K&N and Arrow muffler are a nice combo for these bikes.

My CB1100 was in the single blinking red bar zone for 38 miles before I filled it up. The tank capacity is officially 3.86 gallons, but it would only take 3.15 gallons, which filled to the bottom of the filler neck cylinder. I did not try to top it off, reasoning the fast discharge from the filler pump would overflow and make a mess.

Observations:
1. There was at least .6 gallons of room in it when normally filling up, and topping it off, while possible, definately risks splashing gas the way pumps flow nowadays.
2. The red fuel light started to blink w/ 1.3 gallons in reserve.
3. I calculate I can safely travel around 50 miles once the gauge light starts blink.
4. When normally filled (not topped-off) the gas tank allows for 120 miles or so before red blinking bar starts, or 2.4 gallons of use from normal fill-up.

Oh yes, it was 50 degrees and sunny today, and I took it for a nice country ride. This motorcycle is very relaxing to short-shift and ride, the fuel injection makes any gear at any rpm flawless in power delivery.

Does the CB1100 have 1" bars? They're holding one for me. I'm thinking the Kuryakyn ISO grips would look good, and wondering if the universal version would fit.

Anybody know/try?

I got a pair of Firstgear Warm-n-Safe heated glove liners, a warmskinz balaclava thermal shirt, another thermal half mask, and a new point and shoot digital camera to use on a lanyard for taking pics while I ride. SCORE!

I would like to know the Torque settings for the Engine Mounting M10 bolts that are at the front of the Engine under the Oil Cooler. Long story involving engine sliders/brackets that didn`t quite fit properly so the original bolts have gone back in until I either make new spacers or the slider manufacturer supplies them.
Also looking to buy or download a workshop manual for my CB1100 if anyone can point me in the right direction.
