Two manufacturers have told me that typical plastic "protectant" sprays like Armor-All these bleach the color from their plastics and cause more harm than good.

The Givi rep at Daytona was adamant about it; he looked at me like I was peeing in his flower bed when I started spraying some Mother's on new side-bags they'd just installed. Then he said their products would look better and last longer if I just washed them.

I coated my last bike with the stuff right after I got it. I did everything down to the hoses and cables with the stuff. I did notice over the years that as soon as the spray coating wore off, the plastic, especially the roto-molded plastic like the case shells, looked faded. Other parts like rubber hoses looked ok though.

As a test, I've decided not to use the stuff on the CB or my new Mini Cooper. If it starts looking really awful without it, I'll start using it again.

Has anyone else heard that these chemicals are more harm than good?

Hey Guys, have a question for ya - please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm fairly inexperienced with forums.

I joined a VFR forum and they have a cool section that shows where people are from so that you can plan rides in your area or catch up with people you may see on the road. For example it has multiple categories such as:
Northeast
Midwest
Southeast
etc....
Then each category is divided up by state. So you'll click on Southeast and there will be sub-categories for NC, SC, GA, TN, etc, etc.

I've seen 2 CB's in the Charlotte area while riding and I'd love to try to get some rides planned, I think that would be an awesome way for everyone to start to get together with other CB's in their area!

My only mods are a Two-Bros slip on, K&N, and the PCV.

The only issue I had was a high-idle, so I changed the "0" column to all zeros (see below for more info on what I mean by that).

Here is how to read the map (I hope i'm not the only one that didn't know how to read this lol)

The top line is % throttle.
The line on the side is the RPM.
The # in each cell is the percentage +/- stock. Zero is stock. So if you see a 10 that's 10% above stock fuel output for that RPM and throttle opening. -10 would be 10% below stock output.

This map at all zeros would be equal to what the bike is equipped with from the factory.

You'll notice that between 3000-5000 we leaned it out (dropped the numbers in those cells) by 5 points. We did that because in top-gear your cruising RPM is normally between 3-5k. That will give you better fuel efficiency while cruising on the highway. My fuel mileage has gone UP since I put this on, so I do think it's doin it's job.

I had a high idle but I noticed that zero throttle between 1000-1500
rpm cells I had 11, 5, 5. I put those cells back to zero (stock) and I'll test the idle tomorrow.

Please use this and enjoy!! The smoothness of the bike is incredible, didn't notice any power per-se, but the throttle response is off the charts.

one thing I thought was interesting was the change between a very small RPM - you'll see that at 5% throttle at 1250rpm it's 15% above stock, then at 1500 it's stock, then at 1750 it's 12% above stock....it was kinda cool watching the dyno do it's thing.

The dyno operator had to hold the throttle as still as possible, then the computer would read as the bike revved up (you can imagine at 2% throttle it revved up pretty slow). Then after it got the reading it would fill in the optimized fueling. We ended up doing that 3 times for every throttle percentage and the computer takes an average of the 3.

Things really get going when you do the 100% throttle - you just peg it and let that thing roll, then it plugs in the cells for ya. Very cool to see for the first time!!!!

We all seem to be of a similar age... 40's to 60's. I'm 58... Which means, we came of age in the
late 60's through the 70's. And that means we 'cut our teeth' on bikes during their
golden age. What bikes did you 'lust' after? The one, or two, you wished you could
have bought back then, but couldn't afford or justify?

For me, the number one bike I wanted was Honda's original CB750. It was the bike I 'lusted' after, but
just couldn't afford.



After that, it was Kawasaki's Z1 900. In my mind, after it came out, it was the
king of the hill. But alas.. once again, it was too big and TOO expensive.



Maybe this explains why I like my CB so much. It's so similar to
both of these bikes in looks and sound. I really enjoy my Harley
and my KLR, but it's the Honda that moves my soul whenever I see
and hear it.

Whats up fellas, im stumped here and can not find the right answer...

I installed the pcv, k&n and 2-bros, had it dyno tuned and its running awesome except for one thing, it's idling high.

It will idle around 1700 and will not go down to 1100 unless you shut it down and let it cool if a little bit.

Since there is no adjustment screw I can't think of what it is. The air/fuel is perfect and it runs great, but it always feels like its in warm-up mode?

I'm going it's not a defective power commander, I really don't wanna pull that off and get another one.

Any ideas?

While I've owned a motorcycle for a 10 yr stretch in my younger days, I don't have near the miles that many of the forum members do. As I get back into riding, I'd like to get the thoughts of the seasoned riders on this forum on how to ride safe and is there anything that specifically applies to the CB1100. It's a much heavier bike them I'm used to which has its advantages & disadvantages.

As I get back into riding, my underlying philosophy is to ride like no one can see you, and if they can see you assume they're trying to kill you.
