  Corrosion Control Recommendation
Posted by: Red Mist_imp - 03-19-2014, 01:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Stumbled across this recommendation; it's highly-touted by folks on another forum and is apparently recommended for use on motorcycles.

I live in a dry area so don't use it and can't comment but here it is.

  Switch the switches ..14 DLX
Posted by: the Ferret - 03-18-2014, 11:34 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

vfrpaul mentioned to me about the new switches for the CB Deluxe, so I had to take a closer look

Look closely..the most easily accessible switches, the big gray ones in the middle on each side are now the horn and emergency flashers.... Whereas the two most USED switches (at least in my experience) are the starter and the turn signals are hidden below those big gray buttons. Wouldn't it make sense to have the middle switches the turn signals and starter?

Oh and as someone mentioned, also visible is the 120 mph speedometer.

I wonder if the 14 std has the same switches?

Looks like the speed limiter is still on the '14.
Posted by: flynrider - 03-17-2014, 12:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (38)

So, it seems to me that Honda was really listening to their customers when they decided on making the DLX/EX for '14. As I recall, the major issues people had when the '13 was announced were things like the 4 into 1 pipe and the smallish fuel tank. Along those lines, I was wondering if they'd remove the 112 mph speed limiter on the '14s, which didn't seem very popular either.

While looking at the pics from the CA dealer that has the black standard on their floor, looks like the limiter is still there. The top speed on the '14 speedo has been reduced to 120 mph from 140 mph on previous models. It looks like a pretty good sign that the limiter stayed.

  Passenger Comfort?
Posted by: dave - 03-17-2014, 12:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Can anyone comment on the passenger comfort of their CB1100? I've put 93,000+ miles on my 1998 VFR800 and it is perfectly comfortable for me, including 500+ miles/day trips, but my wife refuses to do anything more that a weekend ride in the range of 150 - 250 miles. I have to fly her up to Monterey for the Moto-Gp at Laguna Seca (from San Diego) but to be honest, I really enjoy making the trip up the coast myself. I told her the new, 2014 CB1100 I ordered would be more comfortable for her than the VFR, but to be honest, I don't really know. I plan to purchase a luggage rack with a small backrest for her if I can find a nice one we like. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

  Slow leak
Posted by: Pauley - 03-17-2014, 06:31 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (22)

Thought I'd ask to see what some experienced opinions out there were.

My rear tire looses a few psi per day. 2 or 3 days and it would be about 8 or 9 psi low. I inspected the tire pretty closely and can't find any damage or anything. It's not the valve core. The tire has ~1,200 miles on it. Front tire holds 36 psi reasonably long.

Question is: should I take it in to have it checked out or just deal with a slow leak?
