I didn't want to hijack Vic's great thread so I started another.

I also added a PCV to my bike.

I'm running the stock MAP on the Power Commander. No auto tune.

Idle is 1100 rpm. Just like Vic's bike, no hesitation, no jerky response, smooth accel from low revs right up to redline. And the bike has had a few performance mods - TSR air funnel, K&N filter, MotoGear headers and Staintune. Pretty darn amazing.

The only thing different I've noticed, besides wrist bending performance when the throttle is exercised, is an occasional single mild pop between gears when upshifting at a leisurely pace. Any idea what's causes this - besides the fact that the PCV is running a stock MAP? Lean, rich?

Other than that, it's the same well mannered power plant, comfortable cruising around at 2500 rpm in 5th gear with plenty of power going up hills.

This Sunday there's a motorcycle swap meet at the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY. this museum is incredible and only been there a couple of years.

I'm riding up from Long Island, taking the 8am ferry out of Port Jefferson, hope to see another CB1100 in the parking lot!

To all the new 2014 DLX owners, We've seen all the pics, the buring question, so how does she ride? What RPM are we turning at 70 mph in 6th?

Ok, when I was a lad starting out on bikes (legally) for the first time at 16 and during the 80's it was common practice to greet fellow bikers.

This could take several forms. A flash of the headlight. (Which I always have on) a wave ( a la European peeps ) or the most common to this day, nod of the head.

It's not an up/down nod as in Yessss, it's a sideways "alright mate?" nod.


Anyway. When I was 16 on my 50cc I was universally ignored by all the guys on bigger bikes.

Throughout my twenties I was on serious sports tackle (GSXR-750s and 600SS) and used to be nodded to by all but the Harley accountants.

I've noticed now that riding the CB I get nods from all the sports bike guys, but am invisible to the Bonneville set, and the riders of small bore machines.

The world is a worse place because people don't give a hoot about anyone but themselves.

So, what is the standard greeting in YOUR country and how do different groups dish it out?

A few of us have recently picked up new bikes... more will do it this weekend, and with the spring/summer riding season about to start, many more will pick up new ones over the next few months. Hopefully, many of them will be CB1100's!
Question for discussion... How will you break in your new bike? Will you ride it like you stole it and let the dealer deal with it under warranty, when and if? Or will you ride it like a baby? Will you keep the revs low? Or not worry about it. And when will you do your first oil change? And the 2nd? Just curious. I don't remember what the manual says and I know what I'll do. But what will you do? Or... what did you do?

Ok so I went down to the dealer today on a fact finding mission. Would in fact the seat and side covers of a 14 DLX fit on a 13 STD. Dealer was only mildly perturbed that I was tearing apart two bikes on the show room floor lol

Final Answer..well yes and no.

First up the seat.

I removed both seats and flipped them over. They looked identical to me. I tried the seat from the dlx on the std and ..well..it almost went on. I couldn't get it to latch on the right side. It seemed like it wanted to, but no matter how many times I fitted/pushed/turned the key I could not get it to snap into place. It was so close. I think a little bit of fiddling would make it go. I believe someone on the forum is already running a 14 seat on a 13.

The side covers, again pulled both side covers, and flipped them over. They looked really close, but lining the back pins up together showed the front pins were in different places. I could not get the 14 cover on the 13. However, if one were to grind off the front pin, I'm think the rear pin and 5mm allen screw would hold it on the bike, and in the right position, but the front would be loose.

When are they going to have these at local dealerships?

Ive looked around the forum a bit and cant really find anything about it...I just got my CB last week and ive always ridden bikes with GP shifting, it actually looks relatively simple to switch on this bike...has anyone done it? has anyone looked into it? It looks like all you have to do is move the shift rod from the top to the bottom, but the bracket wouldnt fit the requirement
