We have developed the reflash for the 2013 CB1100 and are able to remove the Ignition restrictions within the lower gear, the throttle restrictions in all gears and eliminate the top speed limiter. Will you please reply with your ecu label number (complete) so we can confirm your specific ecu has been READ and is in our database. Thank you.

So I've only had my bike for a month and a half, and I'm already getting tired of polishing the headers. It certainly doesn't take long for the bronze color (which I don't mind so much) and the "liver spotting" (which really bugs me) to come back. Unfortunately, it's a pretty visible part of the bike, and I have a hard time "forgetting" and letting it go.

(As an aside, I find it odd that the stainless Akrapovic headers on my ZRX have never significantly discolored or spotted in the 3-4 years I've had them. What would account for the difference? Richer mixture and consequently lower EGT?)

Anyway, I've been thinking about solutions, and came across the TSR chrome headers from Takashi. It looks like a few of you guys have them. My question is this: Since I'd just as soon keep the stock muffler, if I only swapped headers, would I need to get involved with dyno tuning, power commander, etc. just to keep the thing running right?

This is mostly a cosmetic thing for me...so I'd be a little reluctant to go down that road. Actually, I'm a little reluctant anyway due to the pricetag on those headers, but that's another issue...

When checking chain tension, the owners manual shows chain in normal position and chain pushed up. Should you measure from that position as illustrated, or do you measure from chain fully pushed down and then fully pushed up?

Hey everyone. I am wanting to add a little growl to my exhaust sound. I am not interested in performance gains, only a little rumble . If I install a slip on muffler, staintune, yoshi, etc.. will I lose any low or mid range power if everything else is left stock. Thanks for any input. I dont think this topic has been addressed before, if it has, my apologies.

This came up in an email (and I used one this weekend to repair the end of a garden hose). Oetiker clamps are one time use hose clamps that are cinched on to secure hoses or rubber seals. I discovered them when my mechanic forgot to cinch one up on the Griso.

The grip with a better distribution of pressure than your typical hose clamp but they are NOT reusable and to take them off they have to be cut off. So they won't replace all hose clamp applications. But they can't loosen either!

We use to have motocross tracks all over the south and though they're not all gone, their numbers are diminished as more young guys seem more interested in gaming these days. Here are some pics I took years ago at a track owned by a retired fellow who just loved bikes, especially dirt bikes. He and his wife built the track with their own money and sweat and they were quite successful for a while, even to hosting the Mini Motocross Championship in '74 I think.

The bikes were certainly different then. With a few exceptions two strokes with twin shock rears and seat heights that even short guys like me could deal with. The bikes were slower and less capable than today but no less exciting to watch. The racing was informal as was the attire of the racers. Boots and a helmet were the only required safety gear. Some guys even raced without shirts on hot days. It was grand.

Photos from yesterdays ride, sorry we were running late so I couldn't stop on the coast and get any ocean views, they were spectacular though... we changed the route and went N on 1 to Pescadero and back up to Skyline (Alice's restaurant)
Note, Dennis on his Honda 250 Scooter did a great job keeping up, goes to show if your good, your fast, even if your bike is overmatched, Denis is Good!

So, yesterday was 'wake up the fleet' day...60 degrees, sunny with moderate winds. Lots of chain tightening and lubing, tires filled, gas and oil topped off, this and that. I rode three bikes back to back to back over the same basic loop. The CB1100, Kaw ZRX1200R, and Triumph Daytona 650 (for sale soon, btw, if anyone is interested.

Cutting to the chase, the CB with the Dart flyscreen was by far the noisiest with the most helmet buffeting. The modest nose fairing on the ZRX provided silent, smooth air...a far more comfortable riding experience, at least for my noggin, which took me by surprise. The Daytona, fully faired and committed riding position, was smooth as well. But the diff between the ZRX and CB was marked and led me to the conclusion that the Dart is a detriment.

I'm going to ride it again without the Dart to see what a difference it makes. But now I'm thinking a nose fairing would be the answer for the CB. Or just go naked.
