We got to Austin last Wednesday morning and found the place where the Hand Built Motorcycle show was to be held. They had a several bikes parked outside so I took a few pics. No one acknowledged we were even there, probably due to the fact they were prepping for the show. We didn't ask to go inside.

Here is a pretty cool Bultaco street bike.....I have only seen Bultaco motocrossers and trials bikes so this was a pleasant surprise.

At COTA we were supposed to get pit passes from Michael Larkin with Akrapovic Exhausts (a favor from one of my customers here in Memphis)
but it just didn't work out. He was always so busy speaking with journalists and officials.
Anyway, they had on display and absolutely stunning Harley-engined board racer. The crafsmanship was a sight to behold.

Is there anyone who has added a PC5 on there stock or modified bike and has a dyno map?? I'm looking for A/F ratio. If you do please post our PM me. Let me know if the map is stock or modified.

After research this week I found Don at Guhl Motors in Lancaster PA who has flashed Honda ECU without having to open the unit. He has assured me he can flash the unit.
The problem is he needs the bike in order to set the parameters for the A/F ratio's. The cost of the flash is 375.00 and no charge for dyno tunning since this is the first CB1100. Is there anyone close to Lancaster who has interest that would like to leave there bike for a few days. Once he has done one and has the map he can then do anyone who is interested. I realize we all have different mods but it would be very close.

If not i will have to send him the ECU to do the initial workup ( restrictions removed )regarding the flash and make a trip down for the dyno work.

There was someone who left there bike for a PC5 map, could you please send me that map and let me know if it was stock or mods that you have.

Edit: I asked him if the ECU could be damaged in this process, he said no, but if it does its his responsibility to replace it.

There’s something lovely about South East Queensland in the autumn and spring. It’s warm during the day (mid-high 30sC) but cools off nicely in the evenings (low teens C). The quality of the light changes; there’s a clarity about it that is missing in the haze of the summer. It’s glorious riding weather—it’s almost necessary to start putting layers into my jacket in the crisp mornings.

On Wednesday I got up intending to have an industrious day of chores about the house—my funny little shed needs tidying; there’s work to do in the garden and about the house. I did some of it, but it was too lovely, so I said to my wife, “Damn it, I’m going for a ride.” To her credit, she said “Follow your impulses.”

I decided to ride north to Rainbow Beach and Inskip Point, one of the points of departure for Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island. It’s also increasingly known for its dingo population which is becoming more and more menacing to humans.

There’s the usual map of the ride here.

This is the hamlet of Kin Kin which is at the end of a glorious set of twisties. I hope the photo gives some idea of the quality of the light. That’s the only reason it’s here.



The glorious Cedar Pocket Road I’ve talked about before, but this time so much greener as we’ve had several inches of rain in recent weeks.

The road takes you through Tolara, a commercial plantation pine forest.



Then back to the more Australian bush.



And the undulating straight into Rainbow Beach.

Pelicans. How they ever fly is beyond me.

Better than working at home. Another 264.5 lovely kilometres, and the bike gets better and better as it approaches 10,000 kms.

Nice! Room for a couple more years.

I'm a chrome addict and personally find the black matte exhaust a crime. Chacun a son gout, though, some people will drool over this modification, I'm sure.

of riding it was bound to happen. On my way into work this morning in the dark on I680 tooting along at about 75mph in a mild uphill left hander I come upon a nicwe sized rock smack in the middle of the lane (well right in front of my path within the lane) and I hit it. Darn thing was only a tick wider than the tire....ugh. Well the handling got heavy, but the bike was tracking OK with no vibration so I kept on my way to work. I was getting close and there is a sharper right hander that felt REALLY heavy on the bars and I knew something was up. I get off at my exit and sure enough....my front tire was flat. I rode it almost 20 miles....flat. And the tire didn't really look any worse for wear.
At this point I am about 60 miles from home at the PEAK of the morning rush....ugh. A tow truck would have been $130 and hour to get me home. Fortunately there is a forum around here called BARF (Bay Area Riders Forum) and they do a roadside angels and will do their best to help stranded cyclists as best they can. I waited about 1.5 hours, but i got a ride home from a very nice young lady and I filled her tank before we left and after she got me home. I even had a tire in the garage to put on so I'm all good to go.
