Gentlemen, I hope all you owners of 49 state models are not experiencing the problem I am with my 2014 Deluxe, California model that I just picked up Saturday. This is the worse-running new bike I have ever purchased, and I took it to the dealer today to show them. Between 2000 and 3000 RPM the bike sputters (it runs so quiet, but I'm sure it's misfiring). This was evident when the dealer held it between 2000 and 3000 RPM while in neutral, and you could definitely hear it. Riding this bike below 3000 RPM is just not pleasant. Riding around town you will be below 3000 RPM, and at light (small) throttle openings with very little load it quietly sputters along feeling like it's making the power of an average 500cc bike (or less). When the wife and I took it for our first ride yesterday (I have 340 miles on it now and just did my first oil change tonight), I had to ride it in 5th gear at 60 mph because in 6th gear the engine just wasn't making enough torque to overcome the strong head wind we were riding against (60 mph in 6th gear is about 2800 RPM). At 60 mph I can't even think about making a pass without down shifting twice. Yes, I know it still has to be broken in, but this is an 1100cc motor. Once above 3000 RPM it runs just perfect, pulling like a strong, electric motor, but below 3000 RPM forget it. The dealer informed me this is because of the emissions, and the chance of Honda doing anything to remedy this is not good at all. I wasn't able to leave my bike at the dealer today but I informed them that I would bring it back on Wednesday so that they could take a closer look at it. I'm not happy that I may need to invest in a Power Commander and spend a lot of time trying to remap my fuel injection system just to get my bike to run correctly, but unless Honda does something I may have no other choice. Other than this fuel injection problem I absolutely love this bike. Everywhere we stopped people asked about it, and two people at two different points where we stopped took pictures. One woman told me "My husband just told me that bike was a classic" ( I thanked her because that was a compliment to me). Is there anyone else out there who is experiencing a similar problem, particularly with a California model? Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I actually bought one that is specified for honda. Figured there would be a spare unused plug that was obvious. Not so much. Anybody know where to plug this thing?

Hello. Have you ever been on a group ride and the motorcycle in front of you seems to always have the brake light on? Usually it is due to the drivers right foot barely resting on the rear brake lever. The driver doesnt realize it untill some one points it out to him. I have probably been guilty of the same thing, never even knowing. So I was curious at how much pressure it would take to activate the brake light. The front brake is very sensitive and activates the brake light with very gentle pressure. I found the rear brake lever takes considerable pressure to activate the brake light, more than just the front of the foot resting on it. I believe it would be hard to activate the rear brake light accidentally resulting in brake light constantly being on. Although the brake pads do grab with lighter pressure, long before the light comes on. I usually only use the front brakes and engine to brake normally, but in quick stops I use a combination of front and rear. Just thought I would share my findings in case someone else wondered if they could accidentally cause brake light by wrong foot position. Thanks.

I'm probably not in the majority here, but I've always been partial to Suzuki's. (I've owned 4).

It's nice to see Suzuki returning to MotoGP in 2015. They've been struggling as a company but are willing to invest millions to return to premier class racing. I hope it pays off in the long run.

Here is a picture of one of their bikes. They are down at Austin testing this week.

Walked past the bike and noticed the rear rim had oem chain grease and brake dust all over it. Pop it on centerstand, sit on dolly behind it and 6 or 7 minutes with a shop towel and a can of WD 40 and it looks like new. Ok might as well slide around and do the front..its easier 4-5 mins tops. Oh look at the header pipes, they are splattered with road grime. 2 minutes with the rag and WD and they look like new.

Two weeks ago I picked up my 2013 CB1100. I took this bike out all weekend. I loved it. I enjoyed it. was one of the smoothest bikes I have ever ridden.

Well the Wednesday after I bought it was a beautiful day. I decided to drive it into work. Half way there I realized I needed gas and jumped off the interstate to an area I am unfamiliar with other than I know there is a gas station. I was rounding a turn and to my dismay there was a SUV over the middle lane. My thoughts "This is gonna SUCK!" I am in the middle of a turn and have no choice but to stand the bike up to miss the SUV. I try to get back into the lean before it was too late but it was not.
I saw a grassy area immediately to the right with no trees and knowing I am about to lay my bike down decided to try and guide it there. The bad part of this, there was a really BIG rock; you can even call it a boulder, in this grassy patch that I did not see. I came in full contact with the rock.
The good news I was wearing all the right safety gear and was able to walk away with only scrapes and bruises. And yeah that rock knocked me upside the head so hard I got knocked out, so I didn’t even have to feel the pain until later.
I got checked out at the local hospital and no major damage to me. On the other hand, I didn’t even have my CB1100 a full week and insurance is telling me it is a total loss.
We will see if the money from insurance will allow me to get a new one of if I am out of luck. I will keep you posted.

I personally find riding much much MUCH better when you shift up once and four down...Well thank the engineers at Honda for being so user friendly! Because i discovered today that you TOO can do this to your bike in 60 seconds...go grab your 10mm socket wrench, go to your bike and unscrew this little guy, pop it out the lever, rotate it 180 degrees to the bottom, screw it back in, and BOOM, your bike is now GP style shifting, even if youre not too sure youd like it, just try it, its literally a one minute job and makes everything better!

Has anyone had problems with their charging system yet?

Went out this morning to go to work and my bike was cranking really slowly. Had to open the throttle to get it to spin fast enough to fire. I ride just over 60 miles a day to work and school and didn't go anywhere this weekend.

I rode about 30 minutes (about 26 miles mostly highway and some stop and go) got to the gas station turned it off and filed up the tank and it fired right up and rode two blocks to work. Went to Lowe's an hour later and it started right up. Going to do a current draw test and see how much it's drawing while it's off and check the changing system too. I have no accessories on the bike so nothing should be drawing that much power while off.

Man, there are a LOT of nice bikes out there to be had. I'm looking at a '73 Ducati 750S Racer with an aluminium tank, bevel drive, desmo valves...wow, what a gorgeous hunk of metal. Got $20 large? Can't think of a better way to spend it!

Looks like we are having quite a few members selling their red 2013 CB1100s. Of course, the good news is that those bikes will become sweet, sweet deals as used bikes for new CB1100 owners, who will (if they are sharp cookies) flock to this website in their teeming hordes, to soak up the year's worth of accumulated wisdom we've got on tap!

Honestly, I don't know exactly when it happened, but somehow, I something just clicked for me with the respect to CB1100, and it's grown on me something serious.

Mebbe it's when I named him Cap'n Kidd, which is big and ornery as any piece of horseflesh can be but which will get you wherever you're going and no mistake.
