Thanks to a thread on this forum I have been looking on Cycle Gears site at leather jackets for about a week. Decided this afternoon to pull the trigger. Every time I show a jacket (on line) to the wife, she makes a face. I figure it's sour grapes and she will get over it.

This afternoon I announce I am buying the jacket. She looks close to tears and tells me, I guess you will have two of them.HUH!!! Seems like back in August I tried on a HD brand jacket, really nice, fits perfectly. She knew I wanted it and put it on layaway for my Christmas Present.

I tell you I lucked out 28 years ago, when I married her. I am so tickled. Sometimes I think I just don't deserve her.

So today stunning day in Tampa blue sky's right temperature for a long ride. Before leaving got out my can of Pledge and cleaned my CB to a brilliant shine.
My next door busy body comes wandering over and asked me why I use Pledge to clean my bike? I told him that I have used Pledge on all my cars motorcycles and aircraft. So he goes into this big deal about how it will destroy my paint and it's not the proper product to use on cars or motorcycles. So I reply with well been using longer then you been alive with great results and never had a problem with it and actually always had positive results for me works better then any other product that I have tried and leaves a slick finish on the paint and chrome along with reducing the need to wash my cars or bikes dramatically. Then he told all the products I should be using that he has at work that are designed to my vehicles looking like new. I ask him where do you work he responded with a auto parts supply house. I told him thanks for your help I'll stay with the Pledge. I told him that his car could use some Pledge walk over and did his hood handed him the can and said enjoy. When I returned from my ride he came over and thank me he Pledge both his cars and said
he would have never believed Pledge would work so well.

I've officially completed my first mod! Took all of 15 minutes and required just patience and wire cutters. My first bike was a black cruiser and I had found this chrome tank trim online that I bought, applied and really liked. I put it on last night and then on the way in to work this morning, made a quick stop to find a scenic background to take a pic. The pic didn't turn out all that great but the scenery is pretty nice - taken on Harbor Island with the downtown skyline and North Island Naval Airstation in the background. Just another excuse for me to procrastinate and ride just a bit longer before getting stuck in the office on a Sunday. Anyway, here she is:

I don't think I'm violating any copyright rules when I post the following as it is widely available to the public.
In the most recent issue of Rider magazine a CB owner posted a question in the technical Q & A section.
He says that when he hits a big bump on his 2103 CB Deluxe the engine quits; starts again; the neutral light comes on and he continues on his way. He says he has checked all connections, fuses, grounds and the sidestand.
The reply to his question was that he probably has a faulty bank angle sensor - aka the fall-down switch. This could/would cause the fuel system to shut down momentarily.
There was also a suggestion that it could be the sidestand safety switch and asks if the owner tested it or replaced .

The bad news is that I had to come into the office today to get some work done. The good news is that the normally 10-mile commute turned into a 100-mile commute. I went through some local winding roads that lead into the mountains then took the freeway back to downtown. This was the longest ride I've done so far on my CB. Here are a few of my impressions:

First and foremost, I love this motorcycle more and more every time I get on it. I could put it into 3rd gear and leave it there and still have plenty of pull when the corners got tight and I needed to slow things down then, of course, as the corners opened up there was just smooth, effortless acceleration. Of course, I didn't just leave in 3rd. I played around with other engine speeds and in the end, believe the gearing and low-end torque make this an incredibly easy bike to ride.

On the big sweepers, it felt securely planted and didn't take much effort at the bar or with the throttle to get her back up and going straight. In the tighter corners, I felt a little uneasy but only because I'm still learning the limits of this bike and establishing my comfort level. I'm used to my VFR which has better suspension and tires. Until I get those dialed in on the CB along with more time in the saddle, I'll continue to be conservative on the tight turns. I'm not sure I trust the stock rubber and the suspension feels so stiff that I'm concerned with losing contact at deeper lean angles.

The stock seat had my butt a little numb within the first 50 miles but not terribly uncomfortable. I was certainly ready to get off and stretch once I made it to the office though! Another thing I noticed is a fair amount of vibration through the bars. Both hands were noticeably numb and tingling (Can hands be both numb and tingling? I suppose so - where they weren't tingling, they were numb!). I ride with a pretty relaxed grip so I'm confident it's not from gripping too tightly. I put some after market bar ends on the VFR that helped a lot. I might have to add some to the CB. I mentioned the suspension already. Too stiff in it's stock setting. It looks like I have one more tooth I can adjust on the rear shocks. I'll do that and see how much that helps. At least until I can upgrade to something like the Ikons. And I'll have to investigate what my options are for up front.

I go back and forth on whether I should get a small fairing up front. I like the looks of the Road Comet available on Samurider's website. The wind blast coming back on the freeway was pretty intense. But at lower, around town or back road speeds, I really enjoy feeling the wind. I'm hoping the Road Comet is good compromise. Not too much protection but enough to make the longer jaunts on the freeway more tolerable.

Overall, I give my new CB a 8.5 out of 10. Once I get the suspension, saddle, vibration and possibly wind issues addressed, she'll definitely be in the 9's. What a great bike! With so much potential to become even greater!

I have been top dog in Delaware for over a year now, than saw this one on Main Street Newark today.....and it's a 2014....but my ECU has been flashed....so I may still retain top spot :-)
Never saw the owner, maybe he was watching me from inside one of the restaurants.

Are there any problems that could arise if the exhaust is too free flowing without doing a pcv. I just have a slip on muffler but I don't think it does much it the way of muffling the so therefor not much backpressure. I just don't want to do any damage to the engine.
