I am interested in buying a dart flyscreen for my 2014 standard. I saw some posts about it not fitting on a 2014 but the dart web site now has one specifically for the 2014. Has anyone on here installed one and have any pics?

I know talking about ABS vs non-ABS is akin to a religious debate at times, but I just wanted to share my experience today. To give some background, I've been riding for 8 years now. I've had to do panic stops before, and have always been able to threshold break well enough to avoid trouble. Some people might scoff at only 8 years riding, but I consider myself to be a pretty decent rider and know how to maximize my braking.

I understand most people's point of view on why they don't need ABS. This is my third bike, and my first two did not have ABS. I wouldn't want a new rider to assume they can always mash the front brake all the time because ABS will save them. And when applied correctly, you can bring the bike to a stop very quickly and safely without ABS. But what I want to talk about is the times when you or someone else royal !@#%s up.

I was headed home today in rush hour, which here is pretty packed, but not really the congested stop-and-go that most people are used to. I managed to get up to probably around 30-40km/h, and was going to change lanes. I shoulder checked, and in that time the guy in front of me hammered on his brakes. I turned back and had just enough time pull on my front brake. The front tire slipped for the briefest moment, the tire chirped, and I came to a stop, upright, about 6 inches from the guy's bumper. I'm certain there was no lesser amount of breaking I could've used in that situation without rear-ending the vehicle in front of me, or if there was, that margin was very small.

Was I following to close? Yes. Should I have been going more slowly and further back? Yes. I screwed up big time, I'll admit it. But that doesn't change the fact that I would've very likely been either eating ashphalt or bumper if the ABS didn't kick in. It was definitely an eye opener for me to ride more carefully next time. It's easy to say you'll never need it, but that one brief moment where you or someone else on the road makes a mistake, I'd rather have that one last safety net. My pride isn't worth it.

When I got back into motorcycles in 2005 I was obsessed with Triumph and ended up with a 1970 'original' to complement the 2002 Bonneville.
Now I'm itching for an old CB (preferably 750 ) to go with the new 1100.
Anybody else have similar inclinations?
Any feedback would be appreciated, especially from members who have both,old and new.

I'm planning to have Corbin build a seat for my 2014 Deluxe & wanted to use an original base. Are there any differences between the 2013 & 2014 ? Thanks, Rocket

I always felt the gearing had short legs on the 2013. I would often start out in 2nd on flat ground. Its almost is if they set it up for the Japanese market ( city traffic )

I changed to a 19 front and 38 back about 9% difference in torque and MPH's. With the longer gears it feels just about right taking off from a traffic light, there's less engine braking and a smoother transition in the top 3 gears. They only place where you notice the decrease in torque is when you lug the bike under 2500RPM's and roll ons from 60-80 in 5th are a bit slower .3

I though the bike would run faster times which it does, 0-60 is .2 faster and 0-100 is .3 faster. Very small gains but its positive not negative.

Note: I had a bad rear sprocket it was out of round 1/16th everything cleared up with the change. My chain is running true now.

I need a close up photo of the key cylinder on a 2013 CB1100. I thought I saw some last year or this spring when some of you were customizing wind screens and were measuring from the key cylinder to the top of the screen. I've searched this forum and looked and cannot find one.

I had a deer accident late July and just got my bike back and the instrument cluster has about a 1/4" gap above the key cylinder. It just doesn't seem right but I have nothing to compare it to. My recollection was that there was no gap and the cluster plastic sat right on top of the key cylinder.

I didn't see any photos or diagrams in the service manual that helped either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anbody have a Royal Enfield thinking about purchasing one. I just dont have much information. I do like the bike but have no idea to the relibility or availability of parts or service.
