Well I went down to Hollister last week and unbeknownst to me I needed and appointment, so I made one for today. I kept it, but dang it, wouldn't ya know it that it RAINED for the first time in MONTHS today? Not a drizzle, but not a downpour, but man did I get SOAKED.

So....I had a Corbin seat made today and I took pictures. They let you wander the floor and look around while they work. As a customer It was nice, but dang if I had to work like that I think I might just loose my mind.

P.S. OMG my bike is DIRTY!!!

My son was competing in a cross country meet this past Saturday so I decided to take the CB1100 for a ride down to Eugene to cheer him on. The quickest way to get there would have been by way of the interstate, but I managed to stay off of I-5 for the most part, making for a less hectic experience. I had a great time at the meet. The ride home was a bit toasty as the temperature made it into the low 90's by the time I got back on the road (it was a lot harder on the kids running that day than it was on me riding my bike).

This wasn't the most scenic of trips, so no wonderful photos to share — just one shot that I took when I stopped for gas. But the CB made for an enjoyable trip just the same (with the exception of hauling along at 75 on I-5 without a windscreen). I totaled 275 miles in all and averaged 54 miles to the gallon. Unlike many here, I have no complaints with the factory seat, in fact I actually find it rather comfy and my experience on this ride was no exception.

Just wondering if any one has tried the exhaust from MotoGP werks.
looking for an exhaust for my 2014 CB1100.

It has been pointed out to me on numerous occasions that me and my riding group enjoy a good meal when we're on the road. I do not think this is unique to my friends as I have read posts from others about the great places where they dined while on a bike trip. It is true, then, that many of us like a good meal on the road and especially like stoping where the locals eat.

It occurred to me that we may want to set up a "Ride To Eat" section under the "Seat Time" discussion category. We could even created threads on a state by state basis or, in the case of countries other than the US, regional basis. People could easily scroll through the topics looking for the state/country/region where they may be traveling to see if there is a place along the way that another member recommends. Yes, there's Yelp and Trip Advisor and I like them both, but input about, say, parking a motorcycle is not typically listed on those sites.

Think this would be a worthwhile thing to set up?

On the weekend I took a ride up to Fingal Bay to visit my Brother in Law. The plan was to travel north via the Putty Road to Singleton, then to Dungog, and on to Fingal. A distance of 401kms, making just over 6hrs in the saddle.

I’ve described Fingal in a previous Seat Time thread ([url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3410]Chill-out at Fingal Bay), so not too much more on that. I took the Putty Road out of Sydney. The Putty Road is one of Sydney’s iconic motorcycle roads, a mixture of straights, sweepers and twisties, a joy to ride. Winding its way along the course of the Hawkesbury River it then climbs into the broken wilderness of the Yengo National Park until it finds the Hunter River Valley, one of Australia’s premier wine growing regions. The Grey Gum Café lies around half way along the Putty. No town, no village, no petrol, just the Grey Gum serving coffee and food to hungry bikers and bemused travellers and tourists. Camp there if you wish. Below is a mid week photo. On the weekend it resembles a used motorcycle lot.

North along the route lies Dungog, horse and cattle country of the gentle and well-watered kind. A pleasure to ride. The road ranges from well sealed and line-marked to the more basic sealed, no markings. Along the latter I took the photo that led to the thread title and introductory photo.

On arrival at Fingal I was welcomed with a cold beer and a good nights sleep. The next day was typical Fingal. Light breakfast, and then a body surf at the beach in perfect weather. With the winter chill still in the water the surf was invigorating and set up our appetite for a seafood lunch, accompanied by a glass, or two, of Hunter dry white (Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend) and a waitress that made us blokes feel like twenty one again. Perfect. Sorry, no photos of the food, or the waitress. Remiss of me really.

The plan for return to Sydney was to ride the Bylong Valley Road to Bathurst, the Mutton Falls road and then the Bells Line of Road to Sydney. 622kms and about 8 hours in the saddle plus about an hour and a bit for lunch and petrol stops. Not a lot of spare time for photography.

I was at a gas station in the supermarket parking lot when I see this guy running across the lot towards me. I didn't recognize him, so I was wondering what was going on. Apparently, he had seen me enter the parking lot and chased me down to get a good look at the CB1100.

He mentioned that the bike had looked big when he saw one in the showroom, but looked smaller with an actual person on it. I told him it was a very comfortable ride and about the same size as the early 80s liter bikes it mimicked. I think the lack of plastic bodywork makes 'em look smaller than the typical modern literbike. From the look in his eye, I have a feeling we may get a new member from AZ soon

Anyone else get one of these surveys from the MIC? Enclosed with the eight page, 86 question survey, was the princely sum of One Dollar in cold, hard, U.S. currency. Oh, and the survey reeked of that cheap dime store perfume that grandma would bathe in. They must of had the envelopes stuffed at the local Bingo Hall on a slow night! (Oh well, at least they provided a link and access code to fill out the survey online. But my hands still stink!)

The survey asked all sorts of questions as to whether or not I liked my recent CB1100 purchase. Every thing from ergonomics to service at the dealer, to satisfaction with price paid was queried. Basically I told them my only complaints this far were that the seat gets uncomfortable after an hour and a half, and a lack of accessories. I can't/won't argue about price because I feel the CB1100 is one of the best built bikes out there, and it costs far less than a H-D. (Not that there is anything wrong with H-D, I may own one myself someday. )

So, who else has gotten the survey?

This years Men 's Fall Trip is 6 days riding the curves in central Kentucky with day loops based out of Berea. My brother FZ-1, my son FZ-1, my sons FIL ST 1300 and myself on my CB 1100 are this years participants. This is our 6 th annual fall trip. I will have to fill in the pics after I get back next weekend, but will give the narrative.

Day 1 dawned overcast and cool..well cold really. 46 degrees. I didn't dress warm enough. I think my new Fox Creek leather and old blue jeans are good down to say ..oh, 60 degrees on a naked bike lol. We pulled out at 9 am headed east along the Ohio river then crossed the river on the ferry into Kentucky. That was followed by 160 miles of curves down thru the horse farms and hills in n/e Kentucky. Of particular note was 19, 62, 1504, 627, and 89. The sun finally came out and the temperature climbed to 63, still cool but almost comfortable. We pulled into the hotel 6 hours later. An amish restaurant at the next exit down provided an excellent dinner. Now we are hunkered down for the night. Total miles for Day 1 was 190.
