Optiglanz - metallyguitarded_imp - 11-10-2014 I thought I was ok with the bronzing of my down pipes and I would have been if it was a uniform discoloration. I think it was someone here who described it as age spots. Well, that's what I'm seeing on mine now. I read and saw photos here as well describing and showing how well that Optiglanz stuff works so I decided to order a bottle myself. I got it today! I hope to apply it tomorrow and I'll share my experience with the stuff. Of course, I read that it works so much better on the CB750 than on the CB1100. Kidding ferret, just kidding... RE: Optiglanz - ClassicVW_imp - 11-11-2014 Everyone knows the 750s still don't need Optiglanz even after 35 years. Even the exhaust is better than ours. RE: Optiglanz - the Ferret - 11-11-2014 SOMEone must be going fishing, cause now they're just baiting
RE: Optiglanz - metallyguitarded_imp - 11-23-2014 Well, I finally found time to apply Optiglanz to my pipes and it really made a difference. There's still spotting (any suggestions on how to remove that?) but overall, a great improvement. RE: Optiglanz - the Ferret - 11-23-2014 That stuff is amazing RE: Optiglanz - Headbanger02_imp - 11-23-2014 Give a report every now and then and let us (me) know how long it takes for it to change back to bronze, that is, if it does, I bought a bottle, but I'm reluctant to use it, I happen to like the bronze color....at least on a red bike, I bet if I had the black, I would want it chrome shiny. Curious to your method of using it? Lookin' Good...... Curious to your method of using it? Lookin' Good...... I'd be happy to report back. I'll keep an eye on the pipes and will let everyone, including you (haha), know when and if they start to bronze again. I, too, liked the bronzed pipes at first. The spotting was what convinced me that I had to do something. Optiglanz did not remove the spotting. Diminished them some but not completely removed. But they are less noticeable when the rest of the pipe is chrome. I took some plastic grocery bags and used them as a splash guard behind the pipes. I was prepared to tape them up but it was unnecessary as they stayed in place. The spray nozzle on the Optiglanz has two streams: thin and a bit more of a spray. The larger spray is still rather thin and controlled. I used that. I simply started at the top of the pipes and carefully but liberally sprayed from the top down on all four pipes. The bronze color almost instantly disappeared. I waited the recommended 3 minutes then rinsed with water. I had a large spray bottle with water that I used to rinse the pipes. I know some have used a hose to rinse but I didn't find it necessary as I sprayed it very well then took a water soaked rag and wiped down the pipes. In total, about 10 minutes of work. And you'll have a lot of Optiglanz left over. RE: Optiglanz - venturer434_imp - 11-05-2016 Great product.. removed all the bronzing Optiglanz - Elipten_imp - 11-05-2016 Yes it is.
