How long is the longest you have gone without starting your CB 1100?

For me it's probably 9 or 10 days, I don't think any of my bikes have sat for more than 45 days (last winter was brutal)

but I'll bet judging from some of the mileages being reported, that some of these bikes sit for quite awhile, especially in the northern climes.

So I just went over 100 miles on my odometer today on my deluxe (the weather has been poor since I bought it but it got sunny yesterday and today).

Bike is great except for one thing: I noticed several times that when letting out the clutch in either 1st or 2nd, the clutch handle didn't return to it's full engaged position and would sit at 3/4 with the clutch not quite engaged. I then reengaged the clutch and let it out again and most times it would fully engage, only once did it only again go to 3/4.

I noticed there are numbers on a dial on the clutch lever and mine is set to 2 but I thought those were for adjusting total distance the handle goes out. I have not tried to adjust that dial as of yet.

This is clearly not normal. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Is it just a quick little adjustment I can make?

The only time I've been inside is for the Supercross races. They open the top to let the smoke out and the whole place roars with the sound of MX bikes. Very exciting.

Hey guys, just wanted to share this since I've seen some posts about the fork gaiters from british customs falling apart - well mine did the same thing.

My bike is garaged at all times, I pulled it out to wash it today and noticed the rubber was completely deteriorated. They literally fell apart in my hands, they felt like they had sat the sun for 20 years.

Thats not even the bad part- they also got a thick melted rubbery mess all over my forks. Thankfully it was mostly on the top half of the fork so i don't think I have to worry about it getting down in the seal and really wreaking havoc.

Overall I'm disappointed, but I should have known better and went w/ the Kawi ones (which I'll do next).

Be careful, the $25 price is really enticing, but the mess they caused wasn't worth it.

The stablemate to my CB1100EX. Honda NC750X DCT.

The CB had it's second valve check last week and 4 valves needed shims, 2 ex and 2 in. I haven't ridden it much lately as I knew a check was coming due, finally got some cash together and had it done. I was surprised to find them out of specs. In fact I was going to skip this check because none of my other bikes have valve check intervals this short. Glad now that I did have it done. The tech and I were talking it over and we agreed that this is an air-cooled engine and the other bikes are water, so maybe that's why for the short valve check intervals from Honda.
I plan to ride the CB a little more this spring and summer [ give the VFR a break ] and will probably be at 24k miles this fall. Will keep you posted as to what happens then.

So...with my little CBR250r, I could pivot it around 180 degrees on its sidestand. A pretty nifty little trick of which many of you are probably already aware. I always got a kick out of spinning the bike around after parking nose first in an angle parking spot.

With two other motorcycles, a couple of bicycles and a golf bag or two in our garage, it was a little difficult to get my bike tucked away today without moving things around a lot. I decided to attempt the pivot with the CB...I put my foot behind the stand, grabbed the right grip with my left hand, the right grab rail with my right and leaned back. Lo and behold, the bike popped right up off both wheels. It was heavy so I don't think I could turn it 180, but I just need to pivot it a few degrees to get it lined up the way I needed it. I was surprised that it worked and more surprised that I didn't hurt my back. Not a bad little technique if you have to move the bike just a little bit.
