  CB1100 and rider's height
Posted by: niko597_imp - 01-31-2015, 10:05 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (33)

Would like to hear from riders in this forum who are 6 ft or taller. Do you find the CB cramped in the leg room department? Especially on long ride with your knees folded for extended length of time.

Technology and how motorcycles have evolved...
Posted by: OldF7Guy_imp - 01-30-2015, 03:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I continue to be amazed how good my CB1100 is. I mean its really really good imo. All of this has to do with my point of reference. Going from a 2003 rigid mount Sportster to a 2003 Honda 750 Nighthawk felt like a light year leap in the right direction. The 750 will run circles around the 1200 Harley in just about every category that matters to me. Its been stone cold reliable even bought used. I would climb on it and go anywhere right this second without worry.

Enter the CB1100 I got late last year. Its a Super Nighthawk. It does everything better to the point that when I ride the 750 it almost feels archaic. The Nighthawk after all is basically 1991 technology refined and made reliable.

Things have come a long way and I am glad I am around to enjoy some of the advances. I really like my 750 and its fun to ride but Honda really did a good job on these 1100s. Both of these bikes are some of the more satisfying purchases I have ever made and that is saying a lot because I can be a pretty nasty critic at times. Whats scary is that I like them so much I have now started thinking about buying a used Honda car when the time comes. I really like my Hondas new and old.

I know this is short notice, but is anyone up for a ride tomorrow? My last chance for a while and it's going to be warm. Let me know.

  XR650L or XR400 or XR250
Posted by: Jeephoto_imp - 01-30-2015, 09:04 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (25)

I just sold my KLR to buy my '14 CB1100 DLX and I love this bike. I decided I needed three bikes; my CB1100 street/tourer, a street legal dirt bike for jeep trails, dirt roads & some singletrack, and my TLR trials/very tight trails bike.

I want to stay all Honda, so my candidates are XR's (250 or 400) with Baja Designs kit or the already street-legal XR650L. I like the E-start on the XRL.

I'm 5'8", 30" inseam, 175 lbs & 58 years old. I don't go fast, just putter around and explore.

Can anyone offer insight or opinion?

  Triumph Bonnevilles? Show 'em off!
Posted by: Papa Weeley_imp - 01-30-2015, 05:39 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (70)

I've noticed that there a LOT of other Bonnie owners here, so I thought I'd toss mine up in the hopes that others would show off theirs, too.
(I'm guessing that I may find there are several other Triumph RAT members that I haven't recognized, too - )
Anyway, mine's not what's usually expected, being a '12 mag-wheel variety that I've done a fair amount of modding to. Here's a few of her many iterations:

  Crashed BadSeeds in central Europe
Posted by: VTR1000F_imp - 01-29-2015, 11:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

http://www.motorkari.cz/motobazar/motork...40701.html

some used bike broker brought a crashed BadSeeds CB with a plan to sell it to some savior. Check out the pics, the damage is pretty bad.

I have to say, the more I look on the BadSeeds version, the less I like it.

  stock mirrors
Posted by: OldF7Guy_imp - 01-29-2015, 12:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (34)

I am just wondering who is happy with them and whom is not? My personal preference is a rectangular mirror like on my Nighthawk. The CB1100 mirrors to me are borderline sticking out far enough. I put extensions on my 750 Nighthawk mirrors and I feel like I can see about twice as much out of them compared to the CB11.

And then there is looks and preferences again. I love love love the CB500F mirrors on the 1100 but have been unwilling to cough up the dough to make it happen but they look fantastic imo. Forum member Headbanger has them and man they just look right. PLus he had the red side covers which just sets the whole thing off.

Are you happy with the stock setup?
