   pleasant ride today
Posted by: gossman_imp - 01-14-2015, 08:24 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (3)

Met up with my friend Tony for lunch and a short ride today. Great sandwiches, coffee, and then the road. For the last 1/2 hour we swapped rides, he rode the cb and I on his Road King. Had a little excitement towards the end, I applied the rear brake like I do on my CB, it immediately locked and sideways I ended up sliding upright down the road. I recovered, stayed up right, and resumed the ride feeling sheepish, reminding myself that this was the reason I wanted ABS. I rode heavy old cruisers for a years until I bought this CB. Only been 6 months and I seemed to have already forgotten how they handle and ride. A great reminder on why I love this CB. Tony's take on the CB is he loved the response and nimble feeling, but he really loved the heated grips. All in all a great ride on a beautiful day here in Oregon.

Will the 6-speed trans bolt into the 2013 CB11????
Posted by: ChipBeck_imp - 01-14-2015, 07:50 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

Gentlemen,

Perhaps some of our more technical members can answer this question. There are very few 2014 Deluxe CB1100s out there for sale. I like the bare aluminum engine and silver wheels but procuring a 2014 and starting all over with my mods is something I don't have time for right now. Still, I would really like a six speed transmission and although it would be insanely expensive, can the 2014 six speed be bolted into a 2013 CB1100? Has anybody looked into such a mod or attempted it? I do not like the blacked out 2015 standard and if I do start all over it would have to be with the DLX.

At this point I rather spend a lot of money swapping out the transmission in my 2013 CB if that's possible. Does anybody know the answer to this question? All the best.

  Daytona Speedweek........
Posted by: Inline4_imp - 01-13-2015, 02:02 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (2)

Just curious if anyone is attending this year.
Daytona Speedweek and attending some spring training baseball games during the same holiday have been on my "bucket list" of things to do before I leave this wonderful life. I've had the great fortune of attending all three US venues of MotoGP in the last four years, and before I plan to attend the LeMans, Assen, and Mugello legs of 2-wheeel GP racing, I figure I should at least attend a Speedweek.
Any forum members going this year?

Hi all, decisions, decisions, apples and oranges
Posted by: canyonwlf7_imp - 01-13-2015, 11:33 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (60)

Tomorrow I am buying a Triumph Scrambler and possibly 1 other bike!
I know they are apples and oranges but it's between the CB and the Yamaha FJ-09.
I already own a 2014 Harley Low Rider, so I have the cruiser bike handled,
The Scrambler is Retro in looks and in reality so is the Harley, so I guess I'm old school, I'm 54
so I prefer bikes that look like bikes, that being said the new Yamaha triple makes 107 hp at the rear wheel and only weighs 462. Anyway I love the ergo's of both, up right and comfortable, my only other desire is a good handler, do yall think the handling of the CB is very good? I'm sure the FJ-09 is stellar, but quite honestly prefer the looks of the CB, believe it or not the dyna and the Scrambler handle very well, and I am doing some performance upgrades to get about 75 rwhp out of the Triumph and after I change exhaust will weigh about 485. That's enough power for me, I think the CB will be even more powerful so I'm not concerned about that, I know I'm all over the place and am lucky to be getting 2 new bikes to add to the stable, and I need to go with the heart on decisions like this, but would appreciate feedback, also some might choose the CB and the Yamaha over the Scrambler!

  New Jacket
Posted by: metallyguitarded_imp - 01-13-2015, 07:22 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (89)

I've been wanting a new leather jacket for some time now. My current one is okay. I've had it for about five years and I bought it used. It has served me well. I'll, of course, be keeping it as my weather-looks-ugly-better-wear-this jacket. But now, I have a brand new Roland Sands Ronin leather jacket on the way!

Yes, it's pricey and doesn't come with armor (has pockets for armor) but the styling is great. Online reviews describe the workmanship as top notch. Plus, I used PayPal credit and I have 12 months, interest free, to pay it off. I'll be doing that long before 12 months and when I do, I'll be looking for new boots. Oh, the jacket was $574 on eBay.

No not the long legged blond type

Was cruising the net looking for a 1:12 scale model of the CB 1100 2010-2014

Couldn't find any but did come across this company that makes some interesting ones

Go to motorcycles: street, and look at some of the unusual motorcycles they DO offer scale models for

  3D Printed Honda CB500
Posted by: the_undecider_imp - 01-12-2015, 01:44 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (14)

This guy made a life size model of a '72 CB500 out of plastic on a 3D printer. While I am impressed from an artistic and creative perspective, I have to ask why. He mentions life getting in the way, buy it seems that the countless hours making this might well have gotten in the way of his life. I can only imagine how much he spent on the printer. Surely, he could have bought a bike with what he spent, probably a lot of bikes.

Will a wheel chock that is 4 5/8" inches wide be enough to accomodate the CB1100 front tire?

Could the 2013 CB1100 in US come with BattleAx tires? From what I read Dunlop was the tire.
