Can't believe what a great January we are having for motorcycle riding. Today 52 degrees for a high, sunny skies, just an awesome day (although we are having wind gusts to 32 mph).

My brother rolled out his Bonnie and I grabbed the CB for a ride this afternoon. This would be my first ride with the NC Street Shield EX that I had cut 4 1/4" off the top of.

First stop was the Country Inn for lunch in a little town about 30 miles east of where I live.

After lunch we headed south down a nice curvy country road we know that dumps out at the Ohio river.

it was then east for 8 miles along the river to a little town we like to stop at for a hot tea break and to sit on the benches to watch the river flow. So much of the riding in our area centers around this river, you're either riding beside it, or heading towards it, it seems. Rarely is it in your rear view mirrors.

After our thermoses were empty it was west along the river till we got to a nice road that goes uphill (north) thru a bunch of curves and eventually ends up over near my brothers house.

we split up when we get to another curvy road I know and he continues west while I head back east thru the curves to home.

Pretty happy with the trimmed shield. Not perfect, still a little too much noise, but much better IMO. Would hate to cut it anymore and just end up with a narrow band of windshield. We shall see...

102 miles today..in the middle of January. 12th day I've been able to ride this January compared to 1 last January. Unbelievable.

Hey guys,I just wanted to share a few thoughts about this new muffler I've just set on the cb. It cost me 400€, which is ok, and the installation process was really easy as you can guess, it only took a few minutes to mount it on the bike. I removed the db killer straight away as I usually ride "loud" bikes. The sound without the db killer was simply unbearable, like a really loud and "turning" (not sur I can say that) hum which gave me a headache right away. So I went back home, took the db killer out and drilled 2 extra lines of holes in it, put it back in place and hit the road again. Much better. Loud but not too much in the low end (loud enough for the car drivers to hear when I ride in between traffic lines-you can do that in Europe). Major improvement as compared to the stock exhaust, plus not very expensive. I'm not sure you can find that in the US, though.

Back in July 2013 Ack-CB11 posted a thread on a 4 into 4 exhaust that IMHO looks better and appears quieter than the Wyvern. Translating the Japanese website (http://www.endurance.co.jp/e/store) it doesn't look like they ship these overseas to the U.S. . Anyone seen one here or know how to go about getting one?

I know many of you here are very knowledgeable, more so than me. I rolled my bike out this morning and noticed it was hard to roll so I looked at my tires and the rear tire was low so I inspected it and found a nail in it. tires are still pretty new (stock) only about 1400 miles on it. So my question is can I just plug it and be safe or do I need to get a new tire? If new tire is in order can I just change the back tire or do I need both front and back? The nail is in the tread part of the tire not sidewall more on the outside of the part of tire that I use, looks like I must have gotten it while cornering. Any advise is appreciated.

My CB1100 just got a little sister, a 2014 Honda NC700X.

I visited my local dealer last Friday to check out the new CBR300F as a possible second bike, but I left an hour later owing a NC700.

The CBR300F is too small for me. The CB500X was a better fit and I briefly considered buying a leftover 2014. But the salesman mentioned a pair of 2014 NC700s, a red one and a black one that were on sale for $4999 ($2800 off list price.)

Someone beat me to the red one by 30 minutes, so I got the black one for $6300 OTD, including free delivery. Both bikes were still in crates the warehouse so I didn’t get mine until today.

The little sister is actually significantly larger than our CB1100s – longer, wider and higher. Takashi is sending me a chrome chain cover, Honda centerstand and the tall Honda windscreen. (Mr. T is seeing $ signs). I also ordered a set of Vario adjustable pegs. Future farkles will probably include an SP Tadao two tail slip-on, some intake mods, Power Commander, better levers, and maybe a tail eliminator kit.

It’s still pretty icy at my house – I actually had to drop a bunch of sand down just to ride the bike up to the deck – so it may be a while until I get a ride in.

Had to trailer her home, but after 300 miles. She is safe. She was being neglected and not being treated as she deserved. Glad I was able to save her early and she only has 600 miles. I do think she was driven light based on the previous owner's condition. I gave her a good washing and think she cleaned up quite nice. I'm thinking about to replace the 18 teeth front sprocket by a 17.

For me, the original 18 makes a little bit too long transmission overall at my 2013 (5 gear). On typically small or 2 lane roads here, if I let it run, I'm almost only in the 2. gear.

I'm talking about canon carving, not highway (or Autobahn).

Has somebody else here the same feeling?

Just curious if anyone has ordered parts from japan.webike.net. Sent them an e-mail a few days ago with a question about a part and still no response so now I'm a bit leery about doing business with them. Any thoughts?

In my youth, I spent summers working on a rail gang swinging a sledge hammer, then worked a number of years as an aircraft and auto mechanic. That has taken it's toll on my back now that I'm in my 60's.

Colorado has a lot of sunshine but this time of year it means we have temperature swings from the 50's (F) during the day down into the teens at night. That creates a lot of "frost heaves" on the back roads that I so love to ride. These are like mini speed bumps and for a person with a bad back, they can be quite uncomfortable.

I recently installed a set of Ikon 7610-1507 shocks on my 2013 CB1100. What a treat! I'm using the lowest settings on both the spring and the dampening and just loving the ride. I now can ride a number of the roads that I was avoiding because the frost heaves no longer give me grief!

So for anyone that thinks the CB1100 ride is a bit stiff, I'd strongly recommend installing a set of Ikon shocks.
