Finally, after almost 6 weeks this beautiful seat has arrived! Excellent workmanship. It snapped on even easier than the factory seat! Picked up my 14 DLX this morning and what a perfect day to do it. The bike is sweet ! Jury is still out on the seat, but other wise the bike is everything I wanted. I might look into lowering the pegs and raising the bar, but not right away. I took Rout 3A from Weymouth (just south of Boston) and followed the coast to Plymouth then got on the highway to Hyannis to catch the ferrie. A lot of nice windy roads through Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield and Duxbury, with very light traffic.

Well. I finally got some time to ride again, my third ride since getting my license and taking the Motorcycle safety course (basic). You might recall I rode out two weeks ago on a Sunday, a bit cold but just a little cloudy and how could I resist a Sunday ride on my new bike? You might also recall I got lost and caught out in the rain and in the dark made it home safe and sound. My gear kept me dry! That was money well spent.

This Sunday it was warm and clear. Perfect weather. So I retraced my ride to see how I might enjoy it minus the rain and the darkness and enjoyed it so much more. It was a bonding time with the bike and this time my stops and starts were more polished, you know, and now that I have a better feel for her clutch and how to slip it properly on start ups and such and how well she corners, the ride is less scary and finally relaxed and enjoyable.

I got out to Fall Creek Falls, pictures are on my last trip posting, so no new ones of that. After than on the return leg, I had lunch at the only gas station and market for miles around which meant a great time to sit and have coffee and a great homemade kinda hamburger with several other bikers gassing up and chowing down there.

I also changed my path home to include Savage Gulf, a large wilderness part in middle Tennesse and I have some pictures from an overlook near there post. These are all solo runs to get used to the bike and sharpen my skills before riding with a group, which will be more enjoyable, especially with a bunch of CBs in May not too far from here...

I've lived with popping between upshifts but have never seen it from this perspective.

If/when I have Don do an ECU reflash, this will be one issue I'd like him to address.

Hey guys wondering if these front and rear tires will fit the CB1100? I am thinking of going on light gravel roads and the specs on the website seem to match with the bike's wheels. Any comments?

The variety of engine noises that I've been hearing since day one when I picked my bike up from the dealership have virtually disappeared. Along with a whole host of other noises like wind noise, etc.

I gave the CB a good cleaning on Sunday. Later in the evening I took it out for a spin to get the chain warmed up before my final task of applying chain lube. It just so happens that I got a new helmet this weekend and that warmup ride was my first chance to try it out. Well, the new helmet is so much quieter than my old helmet that from an aural standpoint, about all I noticed from my CB1100 was the subdued note of the Staintune exhaust. The difference between helmets is not subtle.

I know that my engine still makes the same plethora of noises that it always has, but I would be hard pressed to realize this if I had been using the new helmet all along. Sans helmet, with the bike running, I can hear almost every noise the engine is making, but they all sort of blend together like a mechanical symphony so little stands out. It seems that my old helmet filtered some noises but by the same token also tended to emphasize others. The new lid just tends to quiet everything down.

Just another reference point to note and more food for thought in the discussion of noises that our bikes make.

Anyone know if the 2014 dlx fuel tank would fit on a 2013 cb1100? Since the 2014 standard cb1100 tank has the same capacity as the tank on the 2013, and my bet is the frame of the 2014's does not differ between the standard and the dlx I think this swap could be done. Still, it would be nice to know for sure. This would be a way, though not cheap, to increase the range of the 2013. And the tank would stay red.

Just few hours riding on the hills between Emilia and Tuscany

OK, so most of you know I was involved in a nice hit and run accident last may 23rd and my bike went in to get fixed. It was a rather long drama between the insurance company and the dealership getting it fixed, but in the end it was all taken care of.
Now I have a Chic Design faring on the bike since I got it back and they had not "fixed" everything that went wrong from the accident. They replaced every part of the instrument cluster except the gauges themselves. The display showed a fault in some of the segments intermittently after I brought it home and I had to get it back into them (after I installed the faring).
Well I picked it up and rode home thinking all was right with the world (before my hip surgery) so I haven't ridden it in a few months and I come to find that the IDIOT mechanic that put it back together left the headlight aimed up as high as it would go (presumably for access to the screws on the headlight bezel) and put the faring on with the headlight like that. HOW DOES A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!?!?!? One of the steps (the last one as a matter of fact) of re-installing the headlight is AIMING IT!!!
This was where I bought the bike and I can't say how disappointed I am with that place. What a complete and total JOKE of a service department.
When I went to pick the bike up the first time the clutch stay was rotated so far forward that the left mirror was almost unusable. How can this be acceptable work?
