Texas does know how to build and maintain a road. For those who don't know what they are looking at, that is just an average country road in Texas, with nary a pothole and a paved shoulder wide enough that a slower vehicle can (and it will) pull over and let you pass. Very civilized.
We've been in DC since '85 and I agree on all your points. Although, I have to admit that I really like the people around here. We have a place in Asheville, NC that we will retire to as soon as our daughters to get out of school. I can hardly stand the wait!
