Every New Years Day, weather permitting, central Virginia riders get together to enjoy a ride and lunch at a Chinese restaurant.

Even with the warm weather, there was a light turn out for the ride today. A guy who restores old Japanese motorcycles for a living showed up on this CB750 that ran like new. I didn't continue with them but instead came home. When I arrived home, my son was snapping some pictures on the yard with his toy NSA drone, that little thing is pretty cool. I couldn't resist a turn and promptly got it stuck in a tree! I was able to shake it off the branch by tossing a wrench with a rope attached to it near the drone and then pulling like mad, it worked! WHEW!

If anyone's interested there is an update on the concept CB1100R in MCN - Motor Cycle News, in the UK. It's on there website, along with a bit of blurb on the new CB1100. Could be good....

I hate it when the new year rolls around and we start to see the 2016 new releases. It always gets my brain spinning and thinking about the possibility of getting something new. Triumph came out with a 1200cc water cooled line of all their retro bikes like the Bonnie and the Truxton. Amazing bikes. Now Yamaha has this xsr 900 Kenny Roberts edition which is also amazing using the FZ09 platform with abs and traction control. Many other incredible new and improved bikes. I have to stop looking or the CB1100 will start to get worried.

Someone asked not too long ago about a little motorcycle emblem in the gauges of our bikes. I categorically stated it wasn't in the gauges of my 14 dlx. WRONG I WAS!

Tonight Dec 31 I was taking a picture of the end of year mileage for my records and when looking at the pic I noticed that little mc emblem and a whole lot more which only shows up in this pic. I have never seen this stuff before

ST Trip A, B and C , the grip heater emblem, something that says "Today" and "air" and "days".. all kinds of little things I never noticed before, some I can't make out. wonder what it all is for?

Very Interesting

Almost a week since my first and only ride on my new CB1100. The immediate effects are shakes, twitchiness, slight drool.

Temporary relief, I unlocked my storage building after getting home from work, entered then dusted my baby - what I suppose some would say is "giving some love".

Then I sat in the saddle... and made "rumbling and vrooming" noises.

Sunday's prediction is a high of 54F. Looking at the hourly scale, they say about 40f by 9:00 am.

Gonna slip on my new riding boots, bundle up, grab my helmet and stutter my way out to the bike.

I know, I know... a dull posting but I gotta do something to quell this stutter I've developed.

I need a !

Is there a removable riser here on stock mount for mirror? I tried wrenching it a little but it wouldn't move..

I have seen several posts asking if the 2014 DLX four into two exhaust system can be installed on a 2013 CB1100 and the short answer is yes. It's not cheap! Even with picking up a set of used DLX headers and aftermarket slip-on mufflers, I spent right at $1,400 on this conversion.

Here is the Honda OEM parts you will need to purchase with prices from Pro Caliber. Note that the big dollar items are the left foot peg holder (left step holder) and left muffler cover. You can reuse the right muffler cover or not use muffler covers at all if you don't mind the black area behind the catalytic converters showing.

Removal of the original four into one exhaust is pretty straight forward. You have to remove the center stand and pick up DLX stand, plus fabricate a new spring mount if you want to retain this capability. I have the DLX center stand, but haven't come up with the spring mount yet, so it's still off for now.

Mounting the right engine header is easy since it uses the same mount locations and hardware that the original system used on that side. When mounting the left engine header, you will have to fabricate a mount just ahead of where the transmission shift lever comes out of the engine. I used the OEM hardware and rested the rubber bushing on the frame and everything feels solid. Don't forget to install new exhaust port gaskets, since the originals will be smashed from the first header.

I picked up a set of Over Racing slip-on mufflers from Samurider and they really look like good quality units. Installation was very easy, once you install the new bushing hardware on the new left step holder. I didn't like the gap left in between the muffler connections and the header catalytic converter side covers so I took the stock muffler covers and cut them down to fit this gap. Then I bolted them to hose clamps to attach them. I think it turned out pretty well, but had to cut a slot in the left cover which allows the kickstand to fully retract.

All in all, this project went very well and the new sound it great! Not to mention that I love the looks! Now I'm waiting for my fairing, side covers and engine guards to get her ready for riding season.

Revival Cycles appears to be the U.S. sales agent, but there may be more.

They are kind of pricey but look cool, but they bring up one important question in my mind that I was hoping someone could help with. In order to run the lights to the ends of the handlebars, a hole needs to be drilled in the bars to let the wires out to be connected to the wiring harness. Will this hole weaken bars to a dangerous level? The install guide recommends a 3mm hole, but I found a link to a build where the hole is much larger, see the picture attached.
