   Coffee Shop Bikes
Posted by: rboe - 12-30-2015, 04:19 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (16)

The gang has been talking a bit about a "Coffee Shop" bike and one of them published an article on it here: http://www.vintagemotorcyclesonline.com/...-shop-bike

Seems ripe for discussion. To me, the GB500 would be a perfect Coffee Shop bike but the definition is pretty broad and the CB1100 seems to fit it pretty good too. At least for my coffee shop riding needs (CB1100 content!).

I see the Coffee Shop bike as being a toned down more relaxed version of a Cafe' Bike but with considerable over lap. I typically run over to Dunkin Donuts or The Grotto up in Cave Creek (ten minutes to 30 minutes ride one way). Rarely the Grotto run will turn into a Bartlett Lake run so a Coffee Shop Bike will need to endure some entertaining twisty bits and cruising - for me.

Since running to coffee shop to chat with me mates can be the only time I get out on the bike during the week; a Coffee Shop Bike suddenly is a better bike to have than one suited to cross country touring.

What would be YOUR Coffee Shop Bike and why?

My youngest son is home from Cali so we're going for a ride tomorrow. Since he doesn't own a motorbike anymore today I rented the subject beemer. Rode it from the rental place and it just simply does not compare with the smoothness of my CB.

RIDE RED!!

  AWD Motorcycles

While looking for a place to eat lunch over the weekend in Philly, I unexpectedly walked by a bike shop that I had never seen before...an orange & black dirt bike had caught my eye through the window. At first I was thinking a new KTM dealership had come to town, but not quite.

"Christini AWD Motorcycles" was printed on the side. How cool is that?! Being the Sunday after Christmas, the shop was closed, but I snapped a pic with my phone for further research. As I looked into them, it's pretty clever stuff.

There was a thread about the Rokon a few years ago, but this is quite different...for the most part, it looks like a completely normal design.
I'm glad to see the company is doing well, and proud that the bikes are built right here in Philadelphia.

  Lack of riding.
Posted by: SCCBrider_imp - 12-29-2015, 11:46 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (4)

Hey everyone. It's been beautiful weather here in Charleston, but unfortunately there has been little seat time due to the holidays. Most of my riding has been to and from work and an occasional run to the store. However, the rides into work have been wonderful with very light traffic and superb riding weather. Oh how I wished I lived closer to the mountains, or even some roads that are just great to ride on. Pitiful me...LOL. I hope the Holidays have treated everyone well and I look forward to seeing those who are going that the 2016 rally in VA.

  OEM chain Lube?

Anyone know what product these bikes are shipped with as a chain lube? It seems to hold up great. Some sort of white grease?

New Ohlins rear shocks from OhlinsUSA for half-price!
Posted by: Olyrider - 12-29-2015, 07:11 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Two pairs left as of this afternoon

Call Joey at OhlinsUSA in North Carolina 1.800.336-9029 x333

Model #HO-010 black springs ( made for CB1100s)

$550 instead of $1,000

Since Honda isn't producing the bike now, they are going to discontinue carrying them, so they are selling out their remainder stock. Got mine five minutes ago.

There is a thread about the shocks in access/mods

Score! Ohlins HO-010 shocks for $550
Posted by: Huladog_imp - 12-28-2015, 05:39 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (21)

Not sure if this was an fluke or I got lucky or if they're going to make anymore available but I stumbled across a set of new Ohlins HO-010 (the model for our bikes) for $550.00 + $15.00 standard shipping from eBay seller "Ohlinusa" in Hendersonville, NC so looks like they're the real deal Ohlins distributor.

Haven't seen another one posted online but you may want to check it out.

Figuring since the Ikons now start at $420 in standard configuration the $130 premium for the Ohlins would be acceptable!

Aloha,
Huladog

  exhaust discoloration

Firstly Merry Christmas all. Happy New Year to boot.
My factory exhaust is beginning to discolor. What are your recommendations for a cleaner. I imagine this is one of the things that titanium does not do? Warm enough here in Va to ride, unfortunately wet enough to float.
Santa stuck a nice Corbin under the tree this year as well, must be a theme!
