Brought home my "new" 2014 standard. The first time I sat on a CB1100 was about 3 years ago and the timing wasn't quite right. Fast forward to present and I'm ready for a new bike. After going back and forth between a 2015 Moto Guzzi V7 and the '14 CB1100, I decided on the latter. A quick 2 mile test ride eased my fears of it being too cramped for me, and now it's in the garage, ready to ride.

Do any of you guys have any tips for checking headlight adjustment? I installed a Dart flyscreen today(a Christmas gift from my wife!), and I'm not sure that I got the headlight back into the stock position. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to reroute the throttle cables and I think I need to remove the throttle cable ends from the throttle tube. I have it all apart but need some slack in the cable to get those little barrel ends from their holders. Is that possible without going to the throttle body and screwing around on that end? I've tried yelling at it. Didn't help. Thoughts?

Edit... and how do I get this damned throttle/switch black box thing back together?? It just won't snap back into place. What the heck??

I've had an inexpensive, Walmart-type tire inflator, one with the 12 foot, 12 volt accessory wires and hookup.

It works on my motorcycles, albeit slowly. Part of my issue with it is the fairly short power cord - I have to pull my m/c relatively close to my car to be able to reach the tires. Just not comfortable being close, and it's not what I would call a convenient affair.

I have no electrical outlets anywhere near to my storage building, where my bike is housed, so a 110 unit is not practical. And due to the very short power cord on the little 12 volt unit I have forces me to move my bike outside and next to the car - again, a pain.

So, I guess my first question is - are there "extension cords" available to provide a lot longer "reach" from car to storage building? If not, is there a portable compressor available with a long power cord somewhere? A 60 foot stretch would be good.

Next; Is there a self-contained inflator available, one that may be rechargeable, that would allow me to adjust inflation while the bike is in the storage building?

Any information or suggestions would be helpful - thanks in advance.

Here's something a bit different I picked up at a bike show a couple of years ago. It's a Burdin cycle pace bike as used in the Bordeaux - Paris cycle race back in the 60's/70's. The generic name for this type of bike is a Derny after the original manufacturer. Less than 250 Burdins were made and mine is one of the last from 1975 so its a rare beast. It has a 75cc engine and a fixed cog so the pedals are driven constantly and the top speed is 55mph. I did a load of work to it and now take it to historic bike meetings where it obtains a lot of interest. I've yet to meet anyone who has seen another like it. The picture shows it partially restored and my thumbnial picture shows me parading the completed bike at Mallory Race Track last year.

I've setup a simple maintenance type spreadsheet to track items completed and mileage ridden...

What do others do or use?

Every year, for as long as I can remember, my younger brother and I take a ride on New Year's Day (weather permitting of course .. which means no snow or ice on the road)

This year the weather terrorists predicted sunshine, 28 degrees going up to 36 degrees. Zero chance of precip. Can't ask for much better than that!

We decided to meet at my house and ride out to a restaurant in Georgetown Ohio called the Country Inn for brunch. It was right at freezing when my brother showed up on his FZ, but the sun was shining and it would only get warmer.

The ride out to Georgetown is on State Route 125 which runs east-west some 150 miles from Cincinnati to Portsmouth, Ohio through the Shawnee State Forest near it's western terminus. Here we are going into a valley between the villages of Hamersville and Georgetown which White Oak Creek flows thru. The creek runs all the way to the Ohio River about 12 miles south of here. BTW 18th President Ulysses S Grant lived for awhile and went to school in Georgetown and famed wildlife artist Carl Ruthven lives there.

The Country Inn is known for it's great home cooking and homemade pies. (Fun fact ... when President Obama was in this area during his first term he stopped here to eat.)

We were here for a breakfast meal called the Slammer. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown potatoes and pancakes. A lot of food for $7.99 .... Man it was good.

We waddled out of there and needed to work off that meal by riding some more. Here's a neat little natural falls. Runs all year unless there is a draught.

We weren't the only ones out riding. Here a Harley brother goes past headed west. 36 degrees ... NO helmet... not even a knit hat. I felt like a wimp in my electric jacket liner and heated grips, balaclava and full helmet. Said it a million times, I am not tuff enough to ride a Harley.
