  Riding Down Under

To cheer up you blokes stuck inside watching the snow settle on your CBs, here's a wee video I came across. It's made by an American who went for a bit of a ride in Australia. His route took him along the south coast from east to west.

The main reason for posting it is the important cameo early in the video.

Well well well, check out which bike they decided to use in Meta's holiday video!

Also, Merry Christmas everyone!

2017 Honda CB1100 EX Anticipation Thread

I'm really looking forward to the release of this model in the US!

From many of the comments made in other threads, it sounds like several people expect this bike to be a slow seller. Maybe yes...but maybe no (if the quantity imported is severely limited).

I've never put a deposit down on a bike (particularly a Japanese bike) ahead of release. I assume there's no point until the MSRP is set and the dealers find out about their allocation? Thoughts welcomed.

Also known as a "TUX".

Got it for a good winter price. Have been wanting to try something small around the city while I wait to pick up MotoGeezer's bike. (Signed, sealed, _____!)

There were a couple of reindeer dressed riders and two full-on Santas, too. I was slow on the draw with my phone, so I missed them as they rode off.

  2014 CB1100 DLX - Fairing & Rear Carrier Pics
Posted by: kballowe_imp - 12-19-2016, 11:08 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

Just a couple pics to show off the Road Comet II fairing and the Genuine Honda Rear Carrier.

These items were purchased from Samurider. Note that if you are installing this carrier on a Deluxe, then the installation instructions are different. The rack didn't come with instructions, so I downloaded them from the web.

The rear carrier is very well made and appears very heavy duty (genuine Honda).

The fairing arrived already color matched, along with that stripe. The plastic and paint work are first rate. Very very happy with it.

For a Deluxe - the rear of the rack will need to be mounted in the top hole on the new (supplied) brackets and thru to the frame. Otherwise, the rack will hit the tail light. It's an angle issue, but only on the Deluxe.

You'll need an extra pair of hands.

I'm assuming that this is much easier installation on a Standard. I found some posts here with instructions and pictures, but this install was different - being a Deluxe.

We had -2 degrees this morning - and freezing rain and snow over the weekend, so I'm not going to get to test out these mods anytime soon
.
In the mean time - the wife has me painting the entire house. I got that done (ceilings, too) with 12 gallons of paint,
so she decided that we needed new carpet.

Hrrrrrmph.

I'm going much slower on THIS honey-do !!!

  Can someone tell me
Posted by: Mikestib1_imp - 12-19-2016, 02:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (51)

I really don't understand why the Triumph classics are so loved and the CB1100 so hated. I own a 2013 CB and also have owned a 2014 Triumph Scrambler. The Triumph had weak brakes, decent torque, crude suspension. Are Americans just in love with all things British? I'm baffled. Honda has a racing heritage second to none. Heck they built a 6 cylinder 250. I don't get it. The CB is as true to its roots, the 69 CB750K0, as any of these Triumphs. Must be the Honda is not hip enough.

  Engine Paint
Posted by: zippooriginal_imp - 12-18-2016, 06:01 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (4)

I stupidly laid my CB over on it right side in a gravel parking lot.
Did little damage with the exception of a small patch where the paint, about the size of a quarter, was scraped off. Geez, this makes me sick.
Can anyone recommend a source for official Honda paint that I can use to touch up the engine casing???
Thanks.
