I already had the Hotwire heated gloves and the coat liner. Santa brought me the pants liner and boot inserts " bless Santa's heart" I am now heated from neck to toe. Sorry I had to throw in the most comfortable shoulder holster that I have ever worn, the Galco Lite.

My Battlax front tire was on it's last legs and had me quite concerned. I needed new tires; especially the front. But I can't afford a new set of Road Pilot tires I want.

My son is the lead Tech at a Yamaha/Suzuki dealer. Today his manager and I scrounged around in the back room, where they store take-off items, parts bikes, overstock, etc. It seemed like all they had were 17" sportbike or dirt knobbies tires.

When, lo and behold, we found a new-old-stock Battlax front tire for my DLX. The manager sold it to me for 1/2 the new price and installed it. I'll put on a new set of Road Pilots later when I can afford it.

It truly is remarkable how things work out perfectly sometimes.

Gotta have a 4 into 2 Exhaust but there seems to be a lot of choices out there. Here's what I'm looking for so maybe someone can help me get the correct exhaust for me.

I like the quietness of the stock exhaust so more volume is not high on my list.
I know I lose the center stand on my 2013 Standard.
Will a chrome exhaust dis-color like the stock exhaust?
Something as close to the Deluxe exhaust as possible.

Or should I just do a OEM Deluxe Exhaust conversion like on one of the threads I've seen here on the forum?

Mainly looking for the retro look and would consider a 4 into 4 exhaust also.

Awhile back I test rode a '14 here at work and loved it. I have been mulling over the bike on lunch and sitting on it... curiously I turned on the display and saw: total, 12 miles, 30 MPG.

I'm assuming this is from my test ride, where I rode "normally" but a couple stretches got 'er up to 85MPH in 4th just to see how it goes. I'm used to 48-50 MPG on my KLR... So, I'm thinking, the 30 MPG is not accurate OVERALL because:

- it's not even broken in
- it was a pretty short trip relatively (I am certain I went less than 5 miles on the test ride).

So if I do end up purchasing in Spring, should I not worry about it? Can the ECU be remapped if I want to eek some better MPG out or is it also a gearing thing?

Like many others, I use Google Maps to plan my day rides.
I now have over 70 maps with their reverse routes.
The deck gets shuffled so I don’t get bored riding the same routes.

MAP and EARTH views are used to search out interesting (wiggly) roads.
When an area is selected, I ride the roads in STREET VIEW to see if they are interesting and paved.

MAP VIEW gets zoomed in or out to get the best fit on the screen.
Then the PRINT SCREEN key is pushed.
PAINT (free with Microsoft software) is opened and the screen pasted in.

The riding area can now be cropped of any unnecessary stuff from the picture.

Larger road names and numbers are added so they can be read at a glance while riding.
Any warnings like SAND & GRAVEL are added in red.
Pictures or diagrams may be added for hard to find turns.

The distance is added to each map, so gas stops can be determined.
Time is added so that my breakfast stop, lunch stop, and time home for supper can be determined.

I'm on vacation, weather was 45° F / 7° C and sunshine, so I planned a 150-mile round trip to get a good cheeseburger in Stamping Ground, Kentucky (far south end of this map). I started near the spot labeled Kentucky 467 and headed south, did the southern loop clockwise, backtracked a bit and completed the northern loop clockwise and back to the start.











Gracie's Place in Stamping Ground is not much to look at from the outside. If you didn't know it was there, you'd probably miss it.




...but they make an awesome double cheeseburger deluxe with shoestring fries.

After reading many posts on this forum, as well as actually reading the owner's manual for my 2014 standard, I purchased a gallon of 10W-30 GN4 (SJ) motorcycle oil for my first 600-mile oil change. I purchased it through Amazon - not FROM Amazon, but FULFILLED BY Amazon.

Emblazoned on the upper right corner of the label are the words "NEW FORMULA"!

When did this new formula first appear? How does it differ from the old formula? Only information with anything that looks like a date is the phrase "US ILA 2011-00156" on the back label. Has it been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for five years?

It seems to have all the specs I've seen mentioned here:

It's got Honda's reassurance that it's good for all Honda 4-stroke motorcycles. I'm not reluctant to use it -- just wondering if this is the "NEW AND IMPROVED!" product, and if so, then how so?

In the winter time my other bike gets ridden the most, for several reasons like wind protection, and heated grips and the CB only gets ridden on really nice clear days when temps are moderate (35 and above usually), due to a lack of the same. Yesterday they called for a high of 47 and sunny so the CB got to go play.

Unplugged from it's battery tender jr, I backed the CB out of the garage, sat it on it's side stand, and turned the key, watching the needles complete their sweep before hitting the starter button. Effortlessly the bike fired up and began to warm up. We have some construction workers in, building a screened in deck, a request from my wife who is planning to retire in March. When they saw me roll the CB out they came walking over and , well, you know the conversation that followed...wow, that's a really clean old bike. What year is it? Really? it looks like a 1970's bike. Has all the new stuff to make it run good right? What? it's air cooled? That's amazing.

By the end of the conversation the bike was warmed up so I told them I'd see them in an hour or so, snicked the CB into gear and let out the clutch and started up the drive. I remember thinking before I even shifted into second gear how great the bike felt. I thought I would run The Loop, just under 40 miles of undulating curvy backroads I frequently ride. Ended up I was enjoying myself so much, I rode a bit further.

The recurring pleasant surprise:

Smooth, with just the right kind of power. Torquey. I love the way it pulls out of a curve and accelerates down the little straight to the next curve, how the transmission snicks from one gear to the next, up or down, but on a road like this how you are only using a couple gears due to the wide power spread. How it effortlessly leans left then swings over to the right, and how the brakes haul it down for the tight ones RIGHT NOW! How riding it seems so intuitive.

At this point, after having owned the CB for over 2 1/2 years, you'd think none of these things would be a suprise anymore. Afterall, after 27,000 plus miles one should be quite familiar with the characteristics of the motorcycle they are riding, but honestly, each ride fills me with suprise and astonishment. During each ride I find myself muttering, " What a great motorcycle". I am so thankful to Honda for making it, and for bringing it to our country.

It's been called slow by some, a fat pig, a poor handler, with junk suspension. Seat too hard, it vibrates too much, has poor ergonomics and a peanut tank. Personally I just don't see it. They must have a very high bar they are trying to jump over. I find the CB to be an awesome motorcycle. Engaging, entertaining, enjoyable, fun, and stunning to look at. A joy to ride.

I love mine.

Do you remember your first CB1100 ride? Mine was today. Bought the bike on the 23rd of December, it was delivered to me on December 28th, and took the first ride on it today the 29th.
First impressions are: Ultra smooth engine and transmission and really light and quick on the steering for the size bike it is.
Man is it a pretty bike! It's a perfect 10. Thank you Honda for making this bike!
