  If Honda builds it...

Been loving my 1100, more than the 1983 CB 1100F I owned way back. My buddy's CB 900F handled much better. How about Honda, who has been criticized of late about their boring line up brought back an updated CBX? Air cooled of course. It would blow some minds. Just dreaming

To Windshield or not to Windshield
Posted by: TCBronson_imp - 12-21-2016, 03:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (34)

I was wondering what the trend was for CB1100 owners. How many have a windshield or fairing of any kind VS. nothing at all. There are times I wish I had a small windshield to take some of the wind blast off.

Thanks to CB1100 forum member T30 for meticulously packing the Corbin seat and shipping it to me with care. Great experience buying from a fellow forum member.. Installed the corbin seat in no time and clocked 100 miles today.. The weather in Houston has been great off lately... First impression ..very happy with the seat comfort..

  Have you replaced your battery?
Posted by: dave - 12-21-2016, 12:51 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (70)

Just replaced the battery in my 2014 Dlx today. I'm a little disappointed that it only lasted about 2 1/2 years, but I was really surprised when my dealer quoted me $179.99 for a replacement Yuasa battery! I ended up buying a replacement battery made by "Power Source" (it's probably manufactured in China, but my dealer didn't know), for less than 1/2 the price (actually $69.99 after my discount). Yes, I looked on the internet (after my purchase) for battery prices and they can be had cheaper, but I wanted my battery today. So my questions are these: Have you replaced your battery, and if you have, how long did the original last? Also, if you replaced your battery did you go with an exact YUASA replacement, or some other after-market brand? Does anybody have any experience with the "Power Source" brand of battery? Thank you.

  POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX?
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 12-21-2016, 12:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (46)

Could someone with knowledge on how to do this... set up a poll about which one they'd prefer? Using the original version of this side by side photo from the EX Anticipation thread?

Maybe the last of its breed

I think part of the reason I bought my CB1100 is because it won't be long before all bikes have radiators, hoses, and water pumps. The 1100 has such a beautiful engine it should be in the Smithonian or some art museum on a stand. I thank Honda for having the nerve to build it.
And the whole bike ain't hard on the eyes either

  Honda GN4 10w30
Posted by: Mikestib1_imp - 12-21-2016, 08:31 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

The last four Honda's I bought, a Grom, a Cbr250r, a CB 500x, and a Cb1100 , according to the owners manuals should use 10w30 motor oil with a MA 903 approval. I think the MA is a JASO rating for four strokes with wet clutches. For all of these bikes I bought either 10w40 Honda Gn4 or Castrol Actevo Xtra 10w40. Every one of them shifted harder than before the switch to the higher viscosity. I assume the original oil was 10w30. Think I'm going to believe Honda and use their 10w30. Or 10w30 Amsoil motorcycle oil. I've read enough on the forum about strange issues after the first oil change using non recommended auto oils. I use Rotella T6 in my scooter with no issue. The 1100 is going to Gn4 10w30 . It's Dino oil but maybe I've learned something. It's not expensive as I only change oil every 3500 after the first 600 miles, and the filter every other oil change.

  Weirdest thing
Posted by: Mikestib1_imp - 12-21-2016, 06:11 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I know my eyes aren't great, but with the ignition off, I can see a dim image of E and F as well as a gas pump in center gauge display. I searched the forum as well as my owners manual and see no mention. Tell me I'm not losing my mind. I have 2013 that I purchased new non current a month ago. Thanks

  Riding Down Under

To cheer up you blokes stuck inside watching the snow settle on your CBs, here's a wee video I came across. It's made by an American who went for a bit of a ride in Australia. His route took him along the south coast from east to west.

The main reason for posting it is the important cameo early in the video.
