This gadget kept coming up in my Facebook feed. The Oinker chain lube tool looks a bit more sophisticated than the Grease Monkey I've been using for years. Puts chain lube (from an aerosol can) where you want it without waste and without making a mess.

Thought it was compelling enough to pick one up on Amazon, and it works pretty well. It comes in specific chain sizes (520, 525, 530). I bought a 530 to fit the CB1100 and figured it would be close enough for the 525 chains on the Triumph and Enfield.

Nice thing about it is that you can rotate the "head" that distributes the lube, so you can direct it where it needs to go easily.

Just sharing a project I am started this weekend. Finished the design over Christmas/New year and got material coming to build it.

Its a motorcycle/atv lift table that uses a standard floor jack as the lifting component. Its a 8' x 3' platform that gets 2' of lift from the floor. It'll have an 8' x 1' side section that can be attached for when I want to lift an ATV up. I'll keep posting pictures of the project as I build it. Total cost I have in this is just cheaper than a harbor frieght motorcycle lift of $550. If this goes well, I'll be able to design it a little cheaper for the next one if I find someone who would purchase one! As well as buying more bulk material etc.

I'm looking for ideas on quality-of-life improvements I can make to this, like some way to easily drain oil into a container or eyebolts to tie down the front or rear tire etc. Any ideas suggestions are great!


Made good progress on the lift this weekend. Both top and bottom frame put together and tacked up, and all my material cut on my wonderful bandsaw.

Bandsaw is early 1940's Johnson. Picked it up in Minneapolis 2 years ago and repainted/restored it. One of the best pieces of equipment I have in my little metalshop.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would've been to drill accurate holes in my pivot arms and my bearing mounts with a cheap harbor freight drill press, just had to spend extra time measuring and making sure everything was square. Patience.

Last night I was able to get the assembly together and I surprised myself with how easily it jacked up and then came back down on its own weight! Now I need to finish welding the frames, add a few supports and put the top sheet on and it should be good to go for first real test with a motorcycle on it.

Finding very difficult (impossible) to find Workshop Manual and Parts books for the 2017 on CB1100 EX/RS bikes here in the UK, no downloads or anything I can find on website.

Any suggestions?

Just a thought,as honda supply a split link for the drive chain in the parts book. Would you be happy to fit one to your chain or would you rivet only. I normally get my chains endless and use this time to remove the swing arm for greasing. But can't see a lot wrong fitting a split link. What's your thoughts.

I have been wanting to add a few extras to my 2014 CB1100EX and to my -bad- suprise they were all discontinued:heated hand grips, 12V socket, as well as any aftermarket exhaust appart from this one from Over Racing: https://www.webike.es/products/21793577.html

I am aware those questions may have been already but since quite a time has passed and the items proposed are no longer available, I was wondering if any of you can confirm what exactly are the incompatibilities, for example, between the heated grips or exhaust of the 2017 CB1100EX and the 2014 CB1100EX.

In other words, for two bike that are practically the same appart from tank, silencer and some esthetical parts, is it really impossible to retrofit the new exhaust? (I do not see the same dilema here than between the 1 exhaust 2013 and 2 exhausts 2014 models).

Part numbers do vary and as per the pieces provider's opinion, they are therefore not compatible. However, from a scale savings and engineering logic standpoint, I really wonder I this is true.

Has anyone here used the bead method for balancing their tires? Specifically, the product "Counteract" seems to be the most popular brand. From google it seems like its superior to traditional weight balancing. Curious if anyone has used it and what their experience was, if it works you could balance probably 4-6 tires for 15 bucks.

Just wanted to know if any one has fitted the Vario footpeg lowering kit. Thinking of trying the 30mm lowering kit, just to give my old knees an easier time. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I can’t believe I’m still riding on January 1st. 5 Celsius (41 Fahrenheit) and overcast but no rain today. Took a little jaunt from Vancouver along Barnet Hwy to Rocky Point Park in Port Moody. Stopped at Reed Point Marina for a photo. I’m glad I bought year round insurance for my CB 1100.
