I ran a search on this, found two threads with those words in the text, but the subject was how tire size might affect speedo reading.

My question is: has anybody determined if the 2017 EX speedometer is accurate? Reasons for asking: motorcycle speedometers have traditionally been 5 - 10% fast, and keeping up with traffic on I-40 (the freeway) here in Albuquerque, my speedo is reading 75 - 80 mph. The speed limit is 65mph. Am I naïve, and/or giving too much benefit of doubt to these cag(ahem) drivers? Or, is this simply the usual motorcycle speedo error?

I just got the Guzzi back from having a leaking rear drive repaired. $405 and change. Had planned to ride it to my buddies coffee shop this morning but the light snow they projected in the area for very early Sat AM didn't come down until late Saturday evening. As result Sunday AM the roads were covered with an inch of new snow. So I decided to clean the bike bay out and put the bikes away for the year.



Guzzi was first in. On the lift until Feb sometime when I take it down to have the tires replaced. I have Pirelli's on it and only get 3K out of a set. I don't ride this bike hard and will look for something different this next time around for the 3rd set.



Next was the XR1200. Not going anywhere until spring so it sits in the back


Last was the CB. I plan to pull the CB out in mid Jan and do a 3-4 day ride around northern Lake Powell. That's why it's in the front. I'll post up a trip report. Still need to mount that aluminum top box. Plan to spend at least one night remote camping off bike. Hope to have good weather. Decent is mid 40's and sunny.



I filled all the bikes with ethanol free and ran them for about 10 minutes to get it into the system. Then put on the trickle chargers.

Some time ago I posted here about the helmet specs. What arrived yesterday was one of [url=https://www.bellhelmets.com/en_ca/bullitt-30]those - a Bell Bullitt. Advertised as "retro", so seems to be an "ideological match" for the CB1100.

Weight: even a bit less (1400 g according to my office postal scale) than in the specs on the maker's page (1500 g). Pretty good, but still above what I was hoping for (1250 g).

Colour: yes, they are available in all-white, with no graphics or lettering on it. (Maker's logo on the front can mercifully be peeled off with ease. Not so the stupid DOT sticker on the back, which I'll have to cover with some white tape).

Size: my head circumference is 57 cm; just between "Medium" and "Large", according to most helmet size tables. I've ordered Large, and, as the knight dude in the movie said, "I've chosen wisely..." - a near perfect fit. I don't even have to take my ears off to put the helmet on. (But it would help if I could). If it was Medium, it would probably be the fist leg of a round trip for it.

Build quality seems quite high. Liner is removable for cleaning (and disinfecting...

It came with clear "bubble" visor. I'm slightly concerned the bulging out surface will be a scratch magnet. We'll see.

Best for the last: No full-face helmet I ever owned was less intrusive of my peripheral vision. I can just barely notice the helmet outline as I move eyes sideways as far as they'll go.

The comments on the noise and comfort in all-day ride will have to wait for the snow to melt. Stay tuned.

Has anyone here experienced a sticky throttle after installing the foam Grip Puppies? I trimmed them a bit to avoid any overhang on the stock grips, so I know that they are not hanging up on anything. Almost seems like they're gripping TOO tight and impeding throttle action.

The Z900R (that would be the Decepticon version) has no fueling issues at all; I just went for a ride today, it's absolute flawless. As far as "upgraded" brakes and suspension, probably not. They're different though. Radial-mount seems to be what people are looking for but offers no functional difference.

This fueling issue really surprises me because with a 10.8:1 compression ratio on the RS as compared to 11.8:1 on the R version, along with the heavier flywheel and lower power, I'd have thought just the opposite.

Of course it did take me some time to get used to the power band on the R, which pulls harder than my 30th Anniversary ZX-10R below 10,000 RPM. It could well be that this rider just does not have a smooth throttle hand and is not used to the kind of power band the 900 has, too.

Also let it be known there was a recall for frame inspection/reinforcement on the Z900R; apparently some riders are overloading the bike and bottoming the shock, which causes the bolt holes to elongate. Hardly any bikes have actually had this problem in actual practice (mine is perfectly fine) but it goes to show first year models can have their problems. I'll take mine in after the holidays for the reinforcement plates to be installed. I've got 3500 miles on mine and in all respects it's been very satisfying.

So the last time I was in Peter Egan's garage, he was sure proud of a Morgan he was rebuilding. Today going through the drive up at our local bank I spotted a Morgan across the street! Who would have thought there would be two Morgan's less than six miles from each other. The guy who let this one follow him home owns a bio medical supply company. Business must be good but this guy needs better tie downs.







The trailer had some road salt on it but the Morgan did not.

Just finished installing Engine Guards (Honda p/n 08P70-MGC-JB0) on the Canadian 2016 CB1100AG. Perfect fit. While at it, also replaced plastic chain guard with a metal one, mostly for ease of cleaning.
