So, I was lamenting about the fact that there are no good roads in South Carolina for motorcycling, when i stumbled upon This:



Really, this thing is something special. it consists of a chain of back roads connected by River Road on the West side of Lake Wateree, just outside of Columbia, SC. These back streets follow the wild coastline of the lake, and the curves are just to die for. On top of that, there are constant elevation changes among the curves, road condition changes, and because of the remoteness of the location, basically no traffic, and certainly no trucks. We hit this road today in the mid morning on a Sunday, when everybody was in church. It's about 29 miles long, contains no less than 153 turns and despite what it says on the map, takes about 40-45 minutes to run in its entirety. My wife and I ran up from Charleston today in colder-than-desirable temperatures to get a chance to experience these roads. I highly recommend anybody with the means and the time and a good bike get out to Lake Wateree and take a trip around these streets.

So I wanted to post an update on my 2013 and the mods that I've done. I'm having a sport tire put on but aside from that she's about done. What do you think?

I really like the seating position, the one inch taken off the seat and the 2 inch lower bars feels right to me.

The bikers meet at churches for season opening.
Today in Bremerhaven with about 500 Bikers.
In Hamburg usually 30000 Bikers each year!

After church we run a big motorcycle corso through the town
accompanied by the lord an the police

Hi, I’m new to the forum and getting ready to buy a different bike. The CB 1100 is at the top of my list. My question is I can buy a new 2014 from a dealer for $5999 plus negotiable fees or a used 2014 DLX from a dealer for $5000 minus whatever they want to give me for my current bike (kbb trade in @ $2700). The used bike has some mods like windscreen and rear rack. Looks to be in good shape with 24,000 miles. I don’t think 24,000 miles on a modern Honda is too many, but you guys know these bikes. I don’t think I’ll lose either way but would like some owner input. Thank you in advance.

Hey guys, I’m a long time rider who unfortunately doesn’t ride a lot. I have 4 bikes, spread between 2 homes in Florida and Georgia. Last year I rode my Harley 3 times for a total of 1100 miles. It’s a 2004 SuperGlide with about 22,000 miles on her. My 2009 KLR is ridden the least, about 200 miles on 3 different rides and she has only about 3000 miles on the clock. My 2014 CB1100 DLX has about 5000 miles on it and I rode it 9 times for about 1500 miles last year. My recent addition, a 1970 H1 has been ridden a whopping 65 miles this year so far in 4 rides. I just bought it in February and since it’s almost 50 years old, I’m not going too far while I learn a bit more about her. She has an indicated 16000 miles on the odometer. So here’s my questions. In years past, I would just change the oil once a year, generally in the spring. But here we are in the spring again and it’s time to change the oil... again. But I’ve not really ridden any of the bikes that much. I run synthetic in all of them, except the H1 due to its age. So what’s the pros and cons of continuing this habit? I think it might be a waste of money and time to change it every year. With this kind of riding, couldn’t I stretch it out to 2 years with no issues? If I was doing alot of riding, I’d do it more frequently on a time frame or mileage limit just like my cars. What do you think? I know the pros to doing this... what’s the cons?

On another forum I mentioned how I could probably get better mileage on the new Wing than the tester did who averaged 38 mpg, but admitted very aggressive riding during some of the testing.

VLJ responded.... no doubt, because you turn everything you ride onto a skateboard .... lol. I hadn't checked my mileage in awhile so thought I would today. Today's ride was a normal/typical ride, 67 miles over to the lake and home the back way on some really good curvy roads. I wasn't pushing it and I wasn't dogging it. Just riding as I always do. Here's the numbers

Tank on a dlx holds what 4.6 gals? At 56 mpg the tank should go 257.6 miles to empty. I have gone 225 miles on a tank a couple of times and had a half gallon left when refilling so the numbers add up.

I lose about 10 mpg when running 70+ on the freeway but still should be able to go 200 miles + before running out of gas (although I start looking for gas at about 150 miles on trips.)

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this, but i figured if anybody knows....

Would you kindly direct to a dimensioned OEM parts spec resource? specifically, I'm looking for the exact dimensions and specifications of the OEM gas tank on the '14 model. I need to pass it off to somebody who's making a doodad for me and can't get to my bike in person to measure.
