I'm not mechanically savvy enough to do any "real" mods, but I'm looking to add some practical accessories to enhance my daily commute and the appearance of my bike.

So far I have lined up a suite of custom leather storage and a Dart flyscreen(Marlin). Some items on my potential wish list are a new seat (that doesn't look like hell or cost over $200), Heated Grips (i have no perspective on what these might cost), Engine guards (that don't cost an arm and a leg). I've already got a rear luggage rack, so that bit is covered.

Anything I'm missing? what kinds of things would you fit on a '14 Standard to make a daily highway commute more efficient, or make the bike perform better under those conditions? What sort of reccomendations would you make for the items on my wish list?

Well, today common sense and reality both showed their ugly faces (I really hate those guys) and I sold my CRF450X thus drawing to an end my dirt bike riding days.

I had only returned to dirt bikes in 2012 after not having once since 1989 when my 1979 XL185 dropped its timing chain. Shortly after I joined the Army and couldn't afford two toys (in either time or money) so street biking won out. I knew I wouldn't have much time to ride them as my back injury I suffered in '08 was deteriorating so ride I did although we are taking trail riding here not hard core MX.

My surgeon told me my last back surgery is just that, my last. I'm out of options now and the next stop is a wheelchair. As crashes are inevitable when dirt riding, regardless of aggressiveness, I have to be smart and close the book on this chapter.

Just means less choices now on what toy to take out on a nice day.

Any one know of any wider back pegs that will work on 2014 cb1100?

I went by the dealer the other day to put a deposit down on a new 2014 CB 1100 std. The price is $6,999. While I was there I noticed a new 2016 Honda Shadow Phantom on sale for $5,799. Factoring in taxes the Shadow is $1,317 less than the CB. I loved my previous 2014 CB, but this deal has got me thinking. Would any of you guys opt for the Shadow over the CB?

My Type-two low handlebars from Samurider arrived this week and I'm getting ready to do the swap this weekend. Couple of questions:

Anyone who has done the swap, any tips, tricks or words of wisdom?

I'm pretty sure I need glue for the grips - I'm staying with the stock grips, what glue do you recommend?

I don't mind the bars the way they are. The position seems to work with the little fairing. But it would be a bit more comfortable if they were up and back a little. My only concern is I'll be more upright and maybe a bit more of a target for the wind.

Any suggestions?

My family is growing and we have a need to get a larger vehicle. I have been thinking of selling the CB but the used price-tags I have been seeing are ridiculously low. I have even seen brand new cbs going for $5999!! I paid $9500 for mine and still owe 4k on it. I can't justify letting it go for less than $6500. Has anyone had luck with trade ins? Part of me wants to keep this bike but we are having trouble fitting two car seats in a civic and can use the money for an SUV.
