Sad news...

1200 miles into my brand new bike, and my tire went haywire and popped which caused me to severely damage my rim/wheel. I’m not sure how tire popped, as the damage was done where it connects to the rim, not the area that touches the ground. My dad thinks the tire was defective and I’m honestly not sure...

I ride the 2014 model and a new wheel and tire is roughly $700 so I’ve been searching EBay for cheaper alternatives.

I did find two different rear wheel styles for the 2013 CB1100.

One is a straight 18x4 wheel and the other is a PCX150 14x2.15 14” straight wheel.

I was wondering if these would work.y

Just returned from a 520-mile ride to Wyoming on the RT. My objective was to ride WY130, also known as Snowy Range Road, while there was still some summer left (the road will close for the winter in about eight weeks). It's very scenic and I highly recommend it if you're ever traveling through northern Colorado / southern Wyoming. Much of the forest has been devastated by beetles but the peaks are still dramatic and imposing, and it's a great road if you like curves. The road tops out at 10,847'. Medicine Bow Peak, in the photo, is 12,018'.

I used to ride this loop in one day, but I got a late start yesterday and didn't have it in me to knock out miles in the dark, so I stopped for the night in Laramie, WY. The start and finish is the red circle on the route map. On the way north, I crossed 11,306' Berthoud Pass and 9,659' Willow Creek Pass, both on the Continental Divide. On the way home today, I crossed 10,276' Cameron Pass on the way into Ft. Collins, CO. Very little traffic, temps in the high 70's, and not a cloud in the sky. Good stuff.

With nothing to do in Laramie last night, I went into town and bought a ticket to the new Tom Cruise movie, "Mission Impossible: Fall Out." Great action-packed flick if you like motorcycle and helicopter chase scenes. I absolutely could not follow the story line.



In October 1955, United flight #409 from Denver to Salt Lake City was lost when it hit Medicine Bow Peak. All sixty-six people on board were killed. Many pieces of the wreckage still litter the base of the peak today.

I have 2018 CB1100 ex the great retro model does any body know which flange kit will fit my petrol cap? they are all BF--- model numbers thanks

I used to be the guy who would surprise dealerships by being back so fast for the first service, but this time—with work being bicycle-commute distance—I’m taking a while to get to 600 miles. (I’m also staying off the SoCal freeways till I build up confidence—as mentioned in my intro post, I’m back on a motorcycle after a 14-year gap.)

My Staintune slip-on has just arrived from Australia. Would there be any issue with installing it now, at about 250 miles?

Also, should I do an oil change earlier?

I can not seem to get the steering lock to engage. Is their a trick? I push and apply just a little pressure while slowly easing the handlebar but it just won't engage.

Twice now, I have snapped bolts when my torque wrench didn't "click" at the set weight. This is with two different torque wrenches. (I suppose I could have made a mistake in the setting, but I don't think so.) Anybody every have this happen to them?

I no longer trust that type of torque wrench! I am going to go back to the old style with the needle. At least with it you can see where you are in a continuum on the torque scale.

What's annoying is in both these cases I could have just gone by feel and been just fine.

Recently purchased my 2014 CB1100 and have been enjoying the heck out of it. One of my desired mods is ChipBeck's CB500F bar swap. So I order all the OEM parts from Partzilla and got a great deal. Everything is biscuits and butterflies until I take a closer look at my bars and realize something very disheartening.

Home-dude who previously owned my bike took off the original handlebar holders and swapped them with Renthal's the grip a 1 1/8 bar. I have priced out the OEM parts to get back to stock and it's gonna be another $85.

I think the bars are going to be a little low but I like the look. I've searched the forum but haven't found a lot on risers. Anyone have suggestions on risers to go with the 7/8" CB500F bars?

I really like the 2017 CB1100 EX and am currently doing comparison shopping with the Triumph Bonneville T120. The things that bring me to the Honda are the inline 4 engine and character it brings. The triumph brings a similar package but uses a lower revving twin, but it comes with heated grips and has an option for cruise control. Both have a good sound coming out of the box and Motorcycle.com with their review has them pretty much neck and neck.

My concern has been the after market support for the 2017 CB 1100 model as it has been difficult to find the items i want to add to it. With these questions I have started to lean towards the Bonneville and am hoping this forum can help me out. Below are the additions i want to add. One of my questions is do the accessories from the 2014 model fit on the 2017? Your help is appreciated.

--Heated Grips - Plan on going Honda
--12 Volt Adaptor put on handlebar - Hook up to battery or is there a socket to use?
--Chrome Rear Carrier - Honda website does not have one, does 2014 fit? Online not showing options for 2017.

Hello, I recently purchased a 2013 CB1100 - Obviously. The PO put a lot of extras on it which for the most part are really nice. He also had most of the stock stuff to put back on if I were ever so inclined to do so. However, one of the things he did not have was the stock seat. The bike has a "Corbin saddle gunfighter and lady leather" seat. It's a real nice seat and I see them advertised at 475 bones. Pretty nice. However, I'm too tall for the seat and it pushes me too close to the tank. Anyway, I'm looking to make a change. Open to any ideas.
