I just saw my bike for the first time. My friend had picked it up for me and brought it home.

Today was the first time I have been able to move enough to go outside and down the stairs to the driveway to see it.

Amazingly it is in really good shape. The left engine guard took the worst of it, scraped and bent back just enough before contacting the side cover. Too bad they don't sell them in left and right.

List of 'damage'-

left rear blinker snapped off
left front blinker orange cover scraped
left passenger peg scraped (I have a spare)
left driver peg scraped (I have a spare)
left engine guard scraped and bent backward
left clutch lever rlet worn through
left Tanax mirror well worn
left gauge cover scraped
headlight trim ring scraped
little metal rim of actual headlight scraped

Amazingly nothing important was touched. (seat, tank, forks, engine, gauges) The engine guard will probably be by far the most expensive part to replace. But it saved countless more damage.

Have you dropped a street bike? Ever? When did it happen? What were the circumstances?

Here are mine. My first bike was a brand new 1990 HD Sportster. Between February and May ‘90 I dropped that bike twice. Two slow speed stalls. No damage done. Not a scratch.

Next was my Kawi ZRX 1200. Summer 2003, Riding to work after an overnight rain and I was sitting at a (long) red light. The smell of something cooking was wafting up from the engine bay. I put the bike on the side stand to have a look. It was earthworms burning on the headers. The road was a slight downhill and the bike rolled off the kickstand. Parts got broken.

Lastly, in 2006. Kawi Z1000. 70mph, operator input error, tank slapper and highside. Bike, leather jacket, jeans, sneakers and helmet totaled. I was banged up, bruised and road rashed

........I dumped the thing over. Went to put my foot down after a stop and my foot
slipped on a wet spot and the bike flopped on over. Tank,rear turn signal and my frame slider took a hit. I’ve already ordered new parts,I wanted to get a spare tank for a paint project but didn’t want one this was,oh well. It was going to happen,just a matter of time. Who rides a bike and never goes down one way or another?

I am anal about keeping my bike clean, and dry. I live in San Diego where I am fortunate enough to have only been sprinkled on twice during a ride during the past four years, my bike is garage stored, and I live far enough away from the coast so that the salt air is not a problem. But, I have experienced unusual rusting and chrome pitting on my 2014 dlx that none of the previous bikes I have owned have experienced. One of my fork tubes has very, very tiny pit marks on it, about the size of a pin-poke. These pit marks are into the area where the lower tube travels, not directly adjacent to the lower fork clamp on the triple clamp. Has anybody else discovered anything similar?

I may be interested in purchasing Hurricane engine guards for my 2014 Standard; however, I’m concerned about their effectiveness, overall design, and safety.

I don’t recall reading anything about anyone else purchasing, and/or installing these guards. I would appreciate input if anyone can share their personal experience, and/or opinions.

I'm looking to trade my bmw s1000r for a 2014 cb1100. It's a brand new left over unit. I do have some questions though...

What's your thoughts on buying a unit that is 4 years old? Would I run into reliability issues? Seems like a long time for a valve spring to be compressed as well... idk just something I was thinking about.

Also I've read about how reliable these bikes are but one thing I see pop up as an issue is corrosion and rust on the painted motor and tank. Are these just a few people or is this a problem across the board? I want to ride this bike a lot and not worry about the paint falling off every time I ride

Saw a couple of teasers for this company so I did a little looking. Not much solid information other than manufacturer supplied but it is intriguing. Priced with premium helmets but no mention of sun shade or pinlock.

Anybody want to try one and save the rest of us the suspense?

Are the rear shocks on motorcycles actually struts, since they include a spring?

I know many of you don’t like louder pipes so this isn’t going to be for you.

I had a SP Tadao pipe on my bike and it was louder then stock hit still pretty tame.

I ran into a bike builder who made a new custom pipe for me, and it’s got some more growl to it now. I also think it looks pretty good? It’s a knock off M4.

I’m probably going to list the SP Tadao pipe for sale if anyone is interested. I’m also casually thinking about selling my bike if anyone in the Atlanta area is interested. I have it on Craigslist locally.
