  Rain, Rain and Mud
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 12-15-2018, 06:00 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (4)

The weather has really made riding a hit or miss thing lately. Rain has turned our local roads into mud and as soon as things dry out, more rain comes. A shame too because today is beautiful, temps in the mid 60's and mostly sunny but the road is impassible except for high clearance SUV's and trucks. Rain is predicted for later this week. Maybe next month will be better.

  Motorcyclist profiling
Posted by: Roper_imp - 12-14-2018, 03:05 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (24)

The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution to help lessen motorcyclist profiling by law enforcement. It's not a law, but it's a step in the right direction. Personally, I've never felt profiled by law enforcement. However, I have friends who have been stopped for zero infractions, other than they were "riding while wearing leather."

  Garage queen?

On today's ride I stopped up at the local Honda-Yamaha shop and was in the service dept. BSing with the head mechanic and service writer when a fellow dropped off the keys to his Goldwing for some service (not sure what) and left. As I was standing there, they opened the door and a real pretty Wing revealed itself. Kind of maroon. Plain, no accessories I could see. Clean as a pin.

What year is that? I asked. 2010 came the reply.

Wow it's clean, said I, how many miles on it?

8,623 came the answer.

8 thousand? 8,000 miles ?.... in 8 years? That's less than 1,000 miles a year. How can that be?

Unbelievable. Heck, the tires were probably original.

I walked out and climbed on my unbelievably filty 4 year old CB 1100 with 43,000 miles on it and went for a ride.

Has anyone got experience with a battlax bt31 tyre on any of their bikes?
it's a touring/sport , fits on the rear of the 18" cb1100 and it seems a good replacement.

Milestone Ride 3 Video Game (PS4, XBox)

Just workin on getting through another winter up here in Canada before the next riding season and video games can and do prevent me from going postal. Was delighted to discover that the latest motorcycle simulation game from Milestone called 'Ride 3' has a 2017 CB1100 EX that you can ride, customize and race. Just had my first, first place finish with it. Even with all the the other bikes on offer in this game, the CB1100 was still my huckleberry. It is not a bad virtual representation of the bike and the game has a lot of accurate information about motor bikes and history. If you can't ride, then dream of riding...

2014 CB1100 in the wind again
Posted by: rboe - 12-10-2018, 09:02 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (22)

A couple buddies and I rode up I-17 to Sunset Point today. I appreciate the Slipstreamer most of the time in these winter months but above 70mph she buffets too much.

Took her to coffee in Cave Creek Sunday morning too, excellent town bike as I knew it would be.

I'm really liking the 6 speed tranny more than I expected. May have to sell the 2013 and keep the Black Beauty. Just not a fan of all that black.

Stand by while I noodle out posting the picture. Confused

  2014 CB1100 Std vs 2017 CB1100 ??
Posted by: ohiorider_imp - 12-09-2018, 02:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Don't recall the model name of the 2017 model. I was just curious if anyone here has spent a fair amount of time on both of these models, and could offer any comparative differences between them.

I understand (think) that the 2017 has slightly different cam timing that gives the bike a slightly more aggressive sound, and that it also comes equipped with 'better' forks (Showa Bending Valve) and possibly improved rear shocks.

Can anyone comment?

Thanks,

Bob
