Garage queen?
#1
On today's ride I stopped up at the local Honda-Yamaha shop and was in the service dept. BSing with the head mechanic and service writer when a fellow dropped off the keys to his Goldwing for some service (not sure what) and left. As I was standing there, they opened the door and a real pretty Wing revealed itself. Kind of maroon. Plain, no accessories I could see. Clean as a pin.

What year is that? I asked. 2010 came the reply.

Wow it's clean, said I, how many miles on it?

8,623 came the answer.

8 thousand? 8,000 miles ?.... in 8 years? That's less than 1,000 miles a year. How can that be?

Unbelievable. Heck, the tires were probably original.

I walked out and climbed on my unbelievably filty 4 year old CB 1100 with 43,000 miles on it and went for a ride.

I see a lot of that around here, too, but mostly on Milwaukee-built bikes. The average rider in the U.S. only rides 3000 miles per year, which means the 'Wing is about 16,000 miles shy of average. Also, lots of folks have more than one bike, so not every bike tends to accumulate a lot of miles. Not sure what this guy's situation is.

Yea I'm not sure what his situation is either. It just always shocks me to see wonderful motorcycles with virtually no miles on them.
Maybe I will inquire next time I'm in there.

The record I think was a bike the same dealer bought back from a customer that had owned the bike for 4 years and put 40 (forty) miles on it. That one knocked my socks off. I usually put 100 on one getting it home after picking it up the first day.

^^^ This.

Neighbor has 2 Harleys, an Ultraglide and a Road King. Prolly $50K into each with all the shiny accessories.

Ultraglide used 1 weekend per year, Road King less than (easy to tell when he fires them up, rattles the windows with the Screamin' Eagle exhausts). Lots of time spent cleaning them though. The bikes sit on Harley-branded rubber mats, not the concrete floor (god forbid). His garage is outfitted as a man cave, complete with couch facing the bikes so he can sit and stare at the bikes while having a beer.

Beautiful bikes really, but I find it strange. To each his own I guess.

It's all good. That's the kind of owner I'd want to buy a used bike from!

Waste of a Wing. But I’m with LR also. The exact person I wanna buy from.

Makes me wonder how many clicks Jay Leno puts on each of his bikes? Maybe he has a "bike walker" to do the exercises. There is only so much of Leno to go around for his bikes and cars on a yearly basis.

I hate to say I probably only put 200 miles on my CB this year....7000 total.....while I put 9000 on the K1600 in 6 months.
