Bumped into this video today abought assembling the barrel and head on a BSA Victor. Thought it might be of interest to you.

Surprisingly warm. And once the sun and wind had dried the roads, it was time to take a couple of the bikes out for short runs.

- First, the old 1991 BMW R100GS got its turn. I didn't like running down the full tank of 91 octane/stabilized fuel for 35 miles, but did it anyway! She hadn't been started for a month, and this old carb'd bike struggled to start. But once there, she ran fine, and reminded me once again why I throw $$ at this old bike, to keep her on the road.

2014 CB1100. A pleasure to ride, now that I've softened up the front and rear suspension (Ikons on rear/RaceTech valving and springs on the front.) I think my 3rd year of ownership upcoming might just be the year this bike earns its keep in the garage. Feeling much nicer with over 6000 miles on the odometer, too. Only enough miles to warm things up today.

The Guzzi didn't make it into today's short runs.

So i couln't even change a lightbulb!
That's absurd, my right hand indicator started flashing faster so that meant one of the indicator lamps was no longer happy.
No problem, just get a new replacement........Ah, none of that size in the auto accessories shop, hmm, well let's take the next size up, 21 watt instead of the 15 watt in the small version 2010 honda light .

Nah, it won't fit through the hole in the lens, so after finding it hard to source a 15 watt lamp i thought why not make the hole bigger so any light will fit!

The round file made the opening big enough so the new lamp would go in just fine now, let's make the others the same size so it will be easy to do this in the future with all the indicator lights, the ones at the right have had the holes enlarged , the left ones are still stock but will be enlarged before putting them back on the bike, the lamps are shown for the different sizes, again the original one is on the left and the brush is used to clean the lens of the swarf from the filing.



And a look at the small indicator lights with the lens removed.
If you put the orange lens back in the housing try to start the screw by hand to use the thread that already exists in the plastic lens, turn anti-clockwise until you can feel the screw fall in the start of the thread, then turn clockwise etc. and don't overtighten it, stop at the end of the travel.



The new lamp has a clearance of 2 mm before it hits the lens, i don't think it will fall out by itself and i hope this helps someone, i think the front lamps give up first because they are on all the time and the hours tick up faster, now i'm off to buy another spare 20w lamp, safe travels.

Dealer called today to say my Monkey was finally in. I've had a deposit on it since early June. Drove down there with my tie-downs. Cute little red non-ABS Monkey was waiting as I walked in the door. Salesman pulled out my paperwork and asked me to sign the sales contract with some rather exorbitant documentation, freight, and set-up fees (combined, they represented about 25% of the cost of the bike). I objected. He has a long list of folks who want the bike and refused to negotiate or budge on anything. I walked out. Honda will make more.

On a motorcycle, a lot of attention is usually paid to how the fuel tank looks. The styling, the shape, the design, the finish. Folks also obsess about the engine -- how it looks, how it dominates the focal point of the bike, how it sounds, etc. And headlights certainly haven't escaped the designer's influence either. For many of us, I think these three components (tank, engine, headlight) either attract or disuade us from considering a bike.

On a car, the fuel tank is buried under the vehicle. Same with the engine -- it's under the hood and usually not too attractive. I can't remember the last time I cared to look at mine. While they're both critical styling elements on a bike, they're inconsequential to most car buyers.

So my question is simply: Assuming the tank, engine, and headlight are the focal design elements on a motorcycle, what are the key design elements on a car? The hood? The grill? The shape of the bodywork? What distinguishes one car from the next and gives it a personality, an image, a statement? Why is one car perceived to be cooler, or meaner, or softer, than another?

My '17 just sat a week without riding it for maybe the first time since I bought it in Feb of this year ('18). Temps have been low '40s to 50 degrees. I was missing the sound of it after getting home from work and tried to start it...seemed to "crank" or "spin" strong, but just wouldn't fire up. Tried about 5-6 times, nearly started a few times, but nope. Tried starting with throttle wide open...would not start. Waited 5 minutes. Tried again, same thing first time, no start. Tried another time with throttle 1/4 open and it fired right up. Started 5 more times after that just fine. Three hours later, starts right up every time.

Has at least half a tank of gas. Did the fuel settle somewhere and it was starved?

Till now, it's always started cold/warm engine with no help from throttle.

I offered $5,500 for the 2014 but have not heard anything back.

What would you guys say is a fair price for a 2013 with 12,565 miles in Florida? Asking price is $4,300 + dealer fees = about $4,800.; What would be a good out the door offer?

I'd like to ask, if somebody uses a Zumo 660 at his motorcycle and which maps would be installed for the US?

Does somebody use openstreetmap or what else material would you use?
