I’ve received a message overnight from Sparky, CB1100 rider and wife of redbirds, to let me know that he was admitted to hospital yesterday for an emergency triple bypass. He was in hospital at the time Sparky wrote and so I can’t pass on any other news.
I’m sure you’ll all join me in sending best wishes and positive thoughts to ‘birds and Sparky at this time.

Hey all, sad news!
My 2014 is no more, probably. That said, the bike was with me for years and almost 40k trouble-free miles and I want another. It's just such an easy bike to own, maintain, and ride that I can't find another that's better for my all-around needs (touring, commuting, riding around town) with aesthetics I can stand (otherwise I may be looking at a GS/Africa Twin or something).
I'm looking at the '17 now and wondering what people paid. I want to go in with a general idea of what to offer. I paid 7500 new OTD for my '14 a few years back, wondering if the '17s are likewise going for such deep discounts, and if not, what should I expect.
If it helps, I'm in L.A., CA.

| Matching numbers ? |

I have an interest in classic bikes , where there is an obsession with matching engine and frame numbers. If they match it indicates that the bike left the manufacturer with its original engine in the frame. Depending on manufacturer , these numbers aren't necessarily the same but would be in the correct ballpark eg for 1970's Kawasaki triples the numbers should be within 400 of each other ( It's a bit more complicated than that but you get the point ).
I am imagining the CB1100 as a classic bike at some point in the distant future and the discussion is around what constitutes matching numbers.
So I am looking at my CB1100A-D engine and VIN ( frame ) numbers I am pretty certain the engine and frame are "matching" in that I would be very surprised if the engine has been replaced. The last three numbers of the engine and VIN are 875 engine and 869 VIN ; a difference of 6 which seems very close to me and therefore matching in my book for a CB1100
Is this typical ? How close are your numbers if you want to share.

Here are my three bikes , bought in the order of following:
1- 2014 VFR 800
2- used 2008 V strom 1000
3- Preloved 2013 CB1100
each of them have own character , but CB is the most polite and friendly.
