Took a 108 mile ride out in the country today, out thru Brown and Adams counties to the east of my home county of Clermont. Things sure look different when the leaves are down and the crops are in. Rode east through the curves out along the hills and then dropped south down to the river Terminus Of Zane's Trace in Aberdeen Ohio, and then back west along the banks of the Ohio

I sat there for a few minutes, sipped some hot tea from my thermos which felt good to ward off the winter cold, and enjoyed the Simon Kenton Memorial suspension bridge built in 1931 that runs from Aberdeen, Ohio to Maysville, Kentucky. They recently built a new bridge about 3 miles west of this one, but the old bridge is still in use.

The river is still used for barge traffic hauling all kinds of things. Always been a major trade artery for hundreds of years.

There are many little towns along the river.. Most were viable at one time, but are basically ghost towns today. Go thru this one, Higgensport too fast, and you don't have to worry about getting pulled over, they just mail you a ticket

about 25 miles west and you find this little sign as you enter my little town of New Richmond

100 yards further (and after a speed reduction of 5 mph), you see this

Gotcha. $ Cha Ching $
Of course according to the Mayor they are only trying to prevent accidents and save lives. Along this road we get a lot of traffic from Kentucky and West Virginia
Great ride. Had the roads virtually to myself all day.

| possible bent rotor, new rotor sources? |

The short version of the story is i'm becoming more and more convinced that one of my front brake rotors is warped in some way. I get a detectable oscillation on the front brake at low speed feather braking. high speed braking or hard braking doesn't produce it unless i'm going very slow, but i'm starting to think it's still happening but i just can't feel it due to the speed, because the oscillating "sound" is still audible in the brakes. The oscillation manifests as a perceptible suspension dip at regular intervals proportional to speed, meaning at certain points on the rotor it feels like the brake is grabbing harder. It's not getting worse, it's not getting better, it's just perceptible enough that I know it's definitely there and I can reproduce it at will.
So, What is a boy to do? I'd like to secure a new rotor, but I don't want to buy a brand new one, because they're outrageous. They seem to be really scarce on ebay. is there a good source for second hand rotors that anybody can point me towards? does anybody on the forum have a spare front disc for a 2014 std. model?
Is there anything else definitive that can be causing these symptoms? i've already removed the brake pads, cleaned the pins, cleaned the pads, cleaned the discs thoroughly, all that jazz. I even bled the brakes thinking it was possibly a fluid issue, no change.

So I'm shopping, pricing the 2013 & 2014's but looking at 2013's, love the red and 4into1 exhaust. Did extensive homework today but curious as to why some dealers are marking up the price by so much? Also, how to approach them and get price down?
For example, I saw nine bikes this morn below $5000, with a few closer (distance) but above $6000. What gives? These higher prices have a few dozen 'views' yet the lower priced ones have hundreds of views.

I had been avoiding mounting luggage to the Bonneville to keep its looks classic and unfettered. However, it always had a tail bag attached to the seat, so not sure how purely classic that rendered it. I pulled the trigger to mount a Givi Monokey rack to it so that it is just as practical as the CB1100 and can haul my stuff to work just as easily.
While I was at it, I snagged a used Givi V40 box from Ebay. Not quite as huge as my V47, can't swallow everything, but perfect for taking my lunch, and holding my helmet and gloves while I'm away from the bike. It has a sort of lame fake carbon fiber finish on top, which I may mask and paint to hide a bit.
I've mounted Givi luggage to several of my last bikes, and the rack for the Bonneville was uncharacteristically ill-fitting. A few minutes with a step drill bit to widen the holes made short work of it. If I decide I don't like the looks at any point, it drops in place with six screws, so it can come off in minutes.
The V40 box was just down the street from the office near the beach, so we coordinated a pick up.
Hintedy-hint-hint, I'll be listing my near-new tail bags in the classifieds if anybody's interested!

Hey All,
Just looking to add the Honda OEM power port for my 2014 Deluxe model.
The part # I have for this unit is 08U70-MGC-JB0 but am unable to confirm this is the correct part for the Deluxe (probably fits all CB1100's?) Anyone here order this already for their Deluxe?
Bit confusing with the variations in part numbers for Standard, Deluxe, EX models.
Little gun shy as I discovered that the part # for the luggage rack is different across some of these models (got the correct one from Samurider - 08L70-MGC-N40)
Also appears to be different part #'s for the engine guards -
Engine Guards - 08P70-MGC-JB0 (???)
Engine Guards - 08P70-MGC-N20 (2014 CB1100/CB1100A - Deluxe)
Thanks!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall notice:
“Avon Cobra Chrome motorcycle tires, size 240/50R16, manufactured April 8, 2018 through June 1, 2019 (DOT date codes 1418-2119). The innerliner gauge may be too thin, possibly resulting in a rapid deflation of the tire.”
More details can be found here:
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=19T009
Just in case any of you have a motorcycle in your stable that has this tire.

Unfortunately, I just have a carport and purchased cheap dust cover I bought for $10 on eBay. This is fine in summer/ fall but does not even keep condensation off bike when it rains. With winter coming I want better, thicker cover to help protect my ex ( his first winter) from elements. Any opinions? Thanks

Motorcycles are heavy. Riders need to have enough physical strength to handle them. Also, riding places a lot of strain on the arms, shoulders, and upper back.
At 57, I finally decided to get myself into better shape. Usually for me that means dieting. This time, I decided to try weight lifting to improve my fitness for riding and just for life in general.
Thankfully, my son is extremely well-educated in lifting and has started competing at the amateur level. He spent time teaching me how to do some of the lifts and created a program to get me started. For the last month, I've been doing a 1-hour workout three days a week as follows:
Monday - Push Exercises[ul] [li]Barbell Bench Press 4 sets 6 reps (heavy)[/li] [li]Dumbbell Shoulder Press 4 sets 8 reps (heavy)[/li] [li]Dumbbell Bench Press 3 sets 10 reps (intermediate)[/li] [li]Lateral Raises 3 sets 12 reps (light, optional)[/li] [li]Tricep Pushdown 2 sets 12 reps (light, optional)
[/li][/ul]
Tuesday - Pull Exercises[ul] [li]Barbell Row 4 sets 8 reps (heavy)[/li] [li]Dumbbell Row (knee on bench) 4 sets 10 reps (intermediate_[/li] [li]Lat Pulldown (chair) 3 sets 10 reps (intermediate)[/li] [li]Cable Row (chair) 3 sets 8 reps (intermediate)[/li] [li]Bicep Curl 2 sets 8 reps (light, optional)
[/li][/ul]
Friday - Leg Exercises[ul] [li]Squat 4 sets 6 reps (heavy)[/li] [li]Squat - Intermediate 2 sets 10 reps (intermediate)[/li] [li]Deadlift (heavy)[/li] [li]Romanian Deadlift (intermediate)
[/li][/ul]
I'm keeping a log of my progress, and it's amazing! I'm surprising myself by lifting weights that would have scared me the first week that I started. I'm gaining confidence and really starting to enjoy the activity and the results. I can tell my grip strength is improving as well.
I found some really good training videos at barbell-logic.com that give you detailed pointers on how to perform various lifts correctly so that you are safe and don't injure yourself. Another good one for a quick review is ExRx.net.

I'm putting heated grips on my VTX and the throttle grip diameter is a good 1/16" bigger than the plastic throttle tube. I tried using Gorilla instant contact cement because it is supposed to expand but it didn't work at all.
Now I'm thinking some kind of construction adhesive or maybe an epoxy to hold but also fill the gap but I'm not sure what to go with. So I thought I'd see if anyone has faced a similar dilemma.
