Always thought it is not just interesting to know when a tire has to go, and how long it lasted, but also how much thread there was to begin with. So I measured tire thread on my new Metzeler Z8 (front).
- thread in the center: 4.5 mm
- thread on the shoulders: 4.0 mm
Just in case you're interested, add your measurements here.

The samurider site says, any tank built for a 2018, 19, 21 EX (slightly different part numbers) would fit on a 2017 EX. But they are out of stock.
When I check bike-parts-honda.com in Europe - they can deliver - but cannot confirm (even after checking with their eng team) that all tanks are the same.
I remember people on this forum have swapped pre-EX and EX tanks (with some minor problems and additional parts). Can I safely assume that I can fit any past-2017 tank model on my EX ? Does anybody have that experience ?

Hi all,
Did a search with no results on this one although it's hard to believe nobody has covered it.
I picked up a 4 into 1 Exhaust kit for my bike over the Christmas holiday (Delkevic 14" Oval) and was wondering what would be the best option to protect the Stainless from tarnishing?
The options I've come across so far are:
[li]High Heat Clear Coat[/li] [li]Protective Wax[/li] [li]Rust and Tarnish protective coating chemicals (numerous options)
[/li]
Any experience to share on what you guys have seen gets the best results? I want to apply whatever option I decide on before installation.
Thx!

This morning, Mrs. Gone and I witnessed the catastrophic end of a BMW.
We were heading north on the 101, north of Los Angeles proper, on our way to hike in the Ventura area. We were nearing the exits for the roads that drop down into the popular twisty roads above Malibu, and being a beautiful Sunday morning, we had been passed by several fast sports cars and bikes headed for the area.
This is a wide, fast part of the freeway, and we were going around 80 with prevailing traffic. A rider on an S1000RR passed us on the right and swept across us to the left, weaving through traffic. Based on our speed, I’d estimate his at 100-105. Since my wife is planning to take her basic riding course soon, she’s more aware of motorcyclists and their behavior than ever, so she was asking me why he was riding so fast and seemingly unsafe. I was mulling over why his back tire looked a little skittish as he crossed lanes in front of us.
Just as she was asking about his riding, and he had disappeared into traffic several cars ahead of us, there was a huge cloud of smoke ahead of us as wide as the whole freeway. “Oh no, he crashed!” she shouted.. but I wasn’t so sure. Traffic wasn’t slowing much, and I saw an oil trail in the left lane that was drifting across the freeway to the right. At the end of that trail, there he was, on the shoulder, standing next to the BMW, whose rear tire was coated in oil. The bike was upright.
Mrs. asked me what had happened, and I said that his engine had just blown up, and he was extremely lucky not to have crashed. It would have been a few miles before we’d be able to exit the freeway to turn around, and it would have taken a long time to get back to where he was. Plus, his spectacular display must have prompted someone to call 911, as a CHP unit with lights and sirens blazing was heading toward him from the other side of the 101.
I’m thinking that either his chain snapped and blew a hole in the engine, or that the engine shattered significantly enough that there wasn’t enough of it left to seize the drivetrain. At triple digits in freeway traffic, he’s lucky that the bike is the only thing he lost.

I keep thinking I need to change my battery. I've got a 2014 Standard bought as a leftover in May of 2018 and I'm assuming they put a new battery in at that time, but who knows? If they did it's at least almost 4 years old. But every time I go to put the charger on it it's fine, over an 80% charge. Plus I don't try to charge it much, I try to remember to do it within a month if I haven't ridden it.
So should I replace it this spring when it turns at least 4 or am I paranoid and let it go until I see signs of age/failure?

I am new to the forum and am just trying to learn how to use the forum, so please bare with me.
Right now I am trying to post a bad photo of the 2014 CB1100; hopefully I will get better. I just picked up this bike about a month ago. It only had 1500 miles on it. I have added the rear luggage rack, a National Cycle Street windshield a K&N air filter and some crash bars.
I am open to any help or suggestions to help me improve using the forum
Cheers!

what the devil is going on in the motorcycle market?
I'm looking at Suzuki m109r and they were supposed to arrive in December, but no sign of them. Also looking at HD lowrider S and they have added $800 surcharge to the few that are out there.
any insight anyone?
