i have a good one for you guys. i installed a bazzaz zfi on the cb1100 and when we went to dyno it,everything was good until a little over 6000 rpm . the engine goes real lean and falls out. everything maps good until 6k rpm.we called bazzaz and they had not run into this.i am going to unplug the zfi tommorow and put it back on the dyne to see if it's in the bike or the zfi. has anyone else had a similar problem with their bike? it sounds to me like it might be a bad ECM unit. thanx , mitch

Maybe next year we could have a couple of meet and greets in different locations throughout the country so we could get together and introduce ourselves. Somewhere locally situated in several different areas of the country. Nothing fancy but I think the group is getting enough members to make this possible. Any ideas on this?

Has anyone change the front or rear sprockets to a taller gear to get the RPM's down? Was on the interstate yesterday and was running 4500-5000 RPM the whole time (in South Dakota 80-83 on the interstate won't get you a second look from the HP).

It seems to me the CB could pull a taller gear and maybe get a little better mileage........thoughts?

easy install, aprox time 1 beer . bolts right up to exsisting tie down bolts that extend on sides, did have to unbolt the top part of fender to get to rear nuts. not bad tho . becareful tightening the fender bolts the very far back 10mm are pot metal and didnt hold up the torque spec(RFT)

I finally brought the Harley back to my home in N. Georgia last Saturday... rode it back to Cumming from Treasure Island. The trip was 530 miles which I did in about 9 1/2 hours or so. No issues other than the Love Bugs were out in S. Georgia which made for a big cleanup job on Sunday and some interesting looks at the Harley dealer in Roswell where I stopped before going home. The reason I mention this is that it seems most people I tell this too, think I'm nuts for riding 500 miles in a day... even biker friends of mine just shake their heads. I can't be the only one out there who'd rather 'ride' than just cruise around looking for the newest bar-b-que joint? Ps... now I can devote my time to putting some good miles on the CB. I hate to admit it, but I've owned the bike for 3 1/2 months and don't even have 200 miles on her... I'll blame it on the heat and rain.

Many of our members have installed the same Road Comet faring that I have on my CB11. It is a fine looking accessory that is well-made and easy to install but there is one thing about it that bugs me. Because the headlight does not seal directly to the faring itself and because some clearance is necessary to allow for headlight adjustment, there is some light bleed through to the inside of the faring that is visible to the rider at night. Certainly not the end of the world but an aggravation nonetheless.

Over a couple weeks I studied many different solutions, discarding most of them because they involved modifying either the faring or the bike. I knew that if I looked at it long enough a solution would come to me and it did. While prepping my GT for last week’s national rally, I put a roll of 2 inch wide extreme duty black “Racers Tape” in with my cleaning kit. Racers Tape is used to protect vulnerable areas of a car from stone chip damage during track and high-speed road events. It is available online at racerstape.com. Racers Tape is very similar to duct tape but it is made to be used on painted automobile surfaces, providing outstanding adhesion and protection while allowing for clean easy removal even after it has been on a car for many months. Bingo! This is the perfect material to make a gasket out of to seal that headlamp to my Road Comet faring.

Items you will need to duplicate this “Chip Beck Spec” mod are few. A clean flat working surface about 3 feet long, a roll of extreme duty black Racers Tape, a yardstick or tape measure, and a pair of scissors. Tear off a 32 inch long piece of racers tape and lay it adhesive side up on a flat surface. Using two small pieces of racers tape, tape the bottom 1 inch to your working surface as shown in the photo, pulling the tape tight before taping it down.

Then carefully and precisely fold the top 1 inch down, pressing the adhesive sides together so you end up with a 1 inch wide black band. Trim it so that it is 28 inches long.

Now take another 32 inch long piece of racers tape and lay it adhesive side up. Tape its entire 2 inch width down to your surface, again stretching it tight before taping it down.

Now, carefully and precisely lay your 1 wide black band down on the top 1 inch of the tape you have secured to your working surface. Press it down so that it is securely affixed. When you are done attaching its entire length, trim the result to 28 inches long.

You have now created a removable Road Comet headlight gasket that can be affixed and removed easily. The adhesive on that tape will never mar the surface of your headlamp nor will it harden.

Affix this gasket to your headlamp such that its rearmost edge is 3/8 of an inch behind the chrome band of your headlamp. The result should look like that in the photo below. When you reattach your Road Comet faring make sure that its entire fiberglass lip is inside that black gasket. The result is invisible from the front or from the rider’s seat but now when you turn on the headlight at night you will observe nothing but black darkness inside that faring. Now, all is right with the world.

I would like to try the Buell pegs but do not know which ones to order,is there only one type?
Could someone please give me the stock number for the Buell pegs they have put on their CB1100 ?
I am 6 ft and have a Corbin seat ,it could be a little lowe than the stock but I think that the Corbin is much better.
Putting a little lower pegs might help with leg room.

Getting ready for my next trip soon. Temp has cooled off a bit since my trip to Blue Ridge/Deals Gap a couple months ago. With mornings in the 50's and highs in the low 70's I have been contemplating a shield but couldn't make up my mind between the large NC Plexifairing 2 shield like CA 200 has or the smaller Street Shield EX, like Randy B has. Decided to try one of the Street Shield EXs. Mounting took about an hour and Randy B's excellent "how to" sure made up for NC's lousy intructions. His pics made it easy to figure out what went where. Thanks Randy.

I love the shape of the shield and it's clarity. It is rock solid at speed too. It does an awesome job of breaking the wind for my body from mid bicep to mid bicep, and from seat to..and herein lies the problem for me... the protection stops right below my eyes. It's a couple of inches too tall..well in reality I'm a couple inches too short. CIP57 told me I would run into this problem and he was spot on. With a full face on, shield cracked or fully closed, at 60 mph, my shield rattles, and it's pretty noisy. Can't ride with shield up cause all the wind goes right in the eye port. If windshield were a couple inches taller it would be quiet and rattle free. If the shield were a little shorter my head would be in clean air. Too late to worry about it now, but when I get back, I'm thinking about lopping a couple inches off. BTW I am about 5'7" with my boots on.
