how big of a tire, the OEM wheel can take? anyone?

I just bought a used CB1100 on Saturday from a used motorcycle shop that was selling the motorcycle on ebay for a customer. The stickers on the gas tank were removed and there was no information on the ebay page that teh bike had ABS.

When I typed in the VIN on the Texas DMV page to determine value for taxes when I transfer the title it came up listing the bike as an ABS model.

I do not think that is the case but how can I check visually?

Well I have been using some heated gear, and wanted to add a coupe of power outlets on the bars to charge phone/gps as well. This is the message I received from the powerlets company......


"There are different types of outlet kits to mount in a lower or rearward
position for plugging in heated gear. However, I'm not sure you are aware
but the 2013 CB1100 does not have a very powerful stator, so it does not
have much excess electical power. The stator output is around 330 watts so
that really only gives you about 50-60 watts to use. The bike will be able
to handle charging a phone, and it may be able to handle one of our heated
jackets on half power 'or' heated gloves, but it will not be able to handle
them all at the same time. Any combination of two of these components will
go past the limit of excess power the bike has. The CB1100 will definitely
not be able to handle most standard heated gear like Gerbings or Firstgear,
which uses anywhere from 75-100 watts of power for their jackets and vests
alone."

So this brings me to ask, what is the power out put of of bikes that is usable? I am worried now that I received this message as I am running , jacket liner, pant liner, gloves, and socks. I would hate to end up stranded due to a dead battery from using all its juice.

Has anyone popped a wheelie yet.
This bike should be able to manage a wheelie in both
1st and 2nd gear.I saw a YouTube video of a guy
popping a slight wheelie on a casual test run.
I'm thinkin' it was in 2nd gear.
I had one superbike in all me years.A rocket.
A Suzuki 750 from the early 80's.I didn't ride it much.
The only bike I ever dumped/spilled.It sat really high.
Only one foot could barely touch the ground.I was going really
slow around my neighborhood and I decided to turn
around on a street and fell into the ditch.
I never liked that bike.Didn't put many miles on.
I sold it.A young whippersnapper kid wanted it really bad.
he talked me into letting him test ride it.He knew speed and
bikes.He actually did a wheelie in the first 3 gears.Not on the
first try but after a few attempts.I know because I followed him
closed in my car as he test rode.

According to the UK website, they get 2 year unlimited mileage warranty on their CB 1100s.

According to what I remember and what I've been able to dig up, we only get a one year warranty.

What's up with THAT Honda?

My neighbor laid his R1 down a few years ago. I was showing him my new ride and he asked what kind of gear I had and I said only warm weather stuff right now. He offered me his damaged Alpine Star leather jacket and said make an offer. It has back, elbow and shoulder pads.

Damage: It has a rip in the front, hole in 1st layer on Right elbow, damaged snaps on left side and no liner.

He said it was over $400 new, but My gut reaction is maybe $40.

Or should I just steer clear of damaged goods? Thoughts on price I should offer if anything?

These look to be very bright. They are pricey. They have several styles. Have any of you guys used these in the past? Thoughts?



As for safety which is more important , the size of the signal or the brightness? I read a report that said with high quality led signals and tail light that it gives a 17' more space between you and traffic behind. Due to how fast they work and bright they are.

I always thought my 2003 Nighthawk 750 was the ultimate motorcycle however my new CB1100 is incredible in comparison. In 40 degree weather today in Wisconsin on the last ride of the season (12/1) the 2003 Nighthawk 750 is doing its best but choking along in the cold weather with its old carbs. The new CB 1100 fires right up and is as smooth as silk in the cold weather with the awesome fuel injection. At 50 mph the Nighthawk 750 is turning at 3500 rpm in gear 5 while the new 1100 is sailing along in gear 5 at 2900 rpm. Unless you are on an interstate everyday, A 6th gear does not seem all that necessary on this new motorcycle.
Anyway I love them both but the new CB1100 is a true upgrade. (Others in my collection include a CL 450, CB 750 and Elite 150.)

The monthly dealer service bulletins seem like pretty interesting reading. Does anyone know if there's collection of them someplace on the web or private stash they'd be willing to share?

I asked this question before, but it got lost in another topic. Thought it would be more visible if I started a thread.

Has anyone had to adjust the valves yet? I know that the manual says check them @ 8k but i was wondering if anyone has had to actually change shims...
