I am just getting a 1983 Honda CB1100F Red/White and was looking for a motorcycle club or group in my area to ride with.

If anyone knows of any please let me know.

Thank you,

  2013 versus 2014
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 06-08-2014, 01:01 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

Yesterday I took my 2014 DLX for a short 60 mile trip on the BRP.
I noticed a couple of important things , but it could be just me and not the bike.
I found the throttle response much better on the 2014 than the 2013, it was not bad on the 2013 but as it was my first bike will fuel injection it took me a while to get used to it.
Perhaps they had to reprogram the ecu for the different exhaust system but I think that it is better and not just me getting used to fuel injection.
I also thought that the bike handled better from the start, I have the same Bridgestones tires but I feel more confident on the 2014 .
It could be in my head, but after I put Ohlins on my 2013 it felt much better.
The settings on the 2014 are the same as before on the 2013.
Is it the weight or something else but the bike feels more planted.
The front fender looks cleaner as well as there is no crossover from the brakes.
I really like the looks much better on the 2014 , my riding buddies feel the same.
I think Honda could have sold a lot more if they had the looks of the 2014 in 2013 and had more colours available.
I do not see a 2015 coming out after seeing 5 unsold 2013 last Friday at Southern Honda Powersports in Chattanooga TN

  2014 cb1100 deluxe dyno break-in
Posted by: laktech_imp - 06-07-2014, 04:08 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

Took my new cb1100 to get a dyno break-in and wanted to post the resulting graph dyno chart.

The tech suggested that due to the 110 mph limiter, "need -1 on front tooth" -- this has something to do with gears. anyone with any thoughts here? i was quoted it would cost $100.

Well using the concept of Elmer Keith, I went and bought a sibling for my 2013 CB. Got a 2014 a Dlx. Have pics in the crate, take delivery on Tuesday. Vin 0268. Pics to follow. Plan to convert the 2013 to Spencer blue, but that white has me thinking.

  Ikon shocks ordered.
Posted by: Red Mist_imp - 06-07-2014, 06:26 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

I just ordered Ikon shocks for Cap'n Kidd. Maybe that'll settle him down a bit as he was prone to want to try to buck me off and bite me in the fast sweepers and kick me in the ass over the rough pavement.

Dave over there is about the mellowest guy I've dealt with. They were $420.

When I get them installed I'll put on a few hundred miles and see how they work out.

Trying to find a seat for my '13 CB1100.
Posted by: SCCBrider_imp - 06-07-2014, 01:53 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I am trying to find an OEM seat with the tapered rear that I keep seeing (the one on the left). I believe that it was on the Australian/Japanese 2010/11 model. I keep seeing them in photos of the bike. Here is an example of what I am looking for. The one on the left is has more of a blunt rear, unlike the tapered rear of the one on the left.

  Exhaust Wrap - Thoughts?
Posted by: B166er_imp - 06-07-2014, 01:26 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (12)

Sorry. I did search and would assumed I would have found something but didn't.

So, I really like the look. I'm only mildly concerned about a performance loss. If there is, indeed, a performance loss. I am fairly concerned about ruining the stock finish on the factory header/pipes.

My thoughts are to either get a full new exhaust and wrap that new header (Yoshi probably) or just a slip on and buy an extra factory header so as to keep the original free of gunk.

Thoughts one way or another? Of course, if you hate the way it looks, I'm not sure its helpful but I'll accept it anyway. Big Grin

  Help me decide (exhaust content)
Posted by: chrisross_imp - 06-06-2014, 11:03 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (24)

The bike is a '14 Standard. I really don't like chrome very much at all, but I don't want my bike to be completely black...there has to be some contrast. Stock the bike comes pretty well blacked out except the chrome fenders and exhaust. I'd like to change one of these to black, and leave the other to serve as the contrast. I also think the stock exhaust is WAY too quiet.

Here are what seem to be the two best options:

A: black exhaust, chrome fenders. Pick up the full Yoshi black exhaust, and that's it.
B: chrome exhaust, black fenders. Pick up a Staintune slipon and some black fenders from samurider.

I'm leaning more towards A because I think that'd look a bit better, but I'm concerned the exhaust wouldn't be loud enough. B is a good option too, but it would be more expensive and more work.

Thoughts? I put up a poll but I'd appreciate a little feedback as to why you chose the one you did.
Feel free to offer another suggestion, but please keep price range in mind.
