At last, after three months, "Back in the Saddle Again" (thank you Gene). A quick groupie out of Sydney to Windsor then Wisemans Ferry and along the Hawkesbury River to Spencer's Village for lunch. Please, don't ask - after fried cheesecake, double beef burgers and Country Inn pies etc anything we eat in this country has got to be ordinary! After lunch a ride up to Peats Ridge for a run down the Old Pacific Highway and then home. 258kms in total. The picture quality is variable but it did happen .

I had a really good day. Two mates, one on a Triumph Striple, the other on a GSX 1400, led the way and the good lines soon came back to me. Not much in the way of chicken strips at the end of the day. This was my first ride with the Staintune and the Dart screen. The Staintune is good motorcycle opera. The Dart, which surprised me after some posts on this forum, also behaved as well as could be expected from a small unit. At speeds from 80kph up to 125kph there was a pressure wave across the upper chest to neck level with helmet noise not affected. To test this I just stood on the pegs and leaned over the bars with minimal difference to noise levels (maybe that's a credit to the Bose NC rather than the screen). With hands off the bars there was no steering wobble. On my next ride (see below), I will give it a good workout at all speeds just in case my judgement was impaired by the joy of riding again. It looks like a keeper, at this stage at least.
Next Thursday off to Mildura for:

Mildura and back will be, with a bit of local touring, around 2200kms. Bring it on!
Cheers

At the request of some interested forum members, here is my CB1100 with Pipemasters. Below is a pic of the headers to show the color after use. Out of the box, they are a very nice polished stainless. With use, the pipes have changed to a light golden color without losing the mirror finish.
For more pictures of the pipes and the bike, click here: [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/10496455@N07/sets/72157644539279309/]CB1100 with Pipemasters
I also put together a couple of videos to demonstrate the sound. I did not remove the baffles:
Hope this information helps anyone considering making the leap. My dealings with Peter at Pipemasters was smooth and he delivered early.

Installed a Yoshimura RS3 slip on muffler on the CB today. I put the insert in and think the sound is just about right for me. Not too loud but makes the CB sound like a 4 cylinder. I had thought about a Staintune but for the difference in price I think the Yoshimura is a great deal.

This is an outstanding documentary on the heyday of two-stroke Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Part 1 is "500 Bike Grand Prix.". Mamola, Lawson, Gardner, all the greats from the late '80's are covered. Part 2 is called "The Rainey Days" and covers the rivalry between Rainey and Schwantz.
Velocity repeats their shows regularly, so it should be easy to catch these. It took me back to my youth and going to Daytona back when it was THE race to win.
The only bad thing is they play a lot of '80's music. Man, was that some sorry cuss!

| OEM engine guard question |

Just received a set of Honda engine guards and want to confirm what I got is correct. Normally, the two sides match in form - these are different in shape and mounting points.
If someone can confirm they are mismatched, I'll just return them without wasting time test fitting.
Thanks!

| Staintune Slip-on's for 2014 CB1100 Deluxe |

Jerry Finley of Prirate's Lair, who sold and continues to sell many Staintune exhaust's for the 2013 CB1100, sent me a note saying Staintune contacted him. It appears Staintue is getting ready to offer exhausts for the CB1100 Deluxe.
http://pirateslair.net/Staintuneall.htm
As most of you know, Staintunes preserve the classic look of the bike but transform the sound and shaves weight. Staintunes for the 2013 are expensive at $830 a pop, so let's hope they offer a decent discount for a pair.
Are any CB1100 Deluxe owners contemplating slip-on exhausts?
