2014 cb1100 deluxe dyno break-in - laktech_imp - 06-07-2014

Took my new cb1100 to get a dyno break-in and wanted to post the resulting graph dyno chart.

The tech suggested that due to the 110 mph limiter, "need -1 on front tooth" -- this has something to do with gears. anyone with any thoughts here? i was quoted it would cost $100.

Laktech: not to sure what are your asking! If you want the speed limiter removed Don at Guth motors can do that and more by sending him your ECM. I had mine reflashed no speed limiter at all any my bike runs great. If you went with one tooth bigger on front sprocket you would lose low end power. I tried to D:L your file but my iPhone want open it. Please try to explain what your trying to achieve.
Michael

Removing the limiter sounds interesting... though I'm uncertain at this point whether it'll be a problem. I just started riding.

I think what the tech suggested was to increase low end power by going one tooth smaller (hence the -1 in his notes?). I'm guessing by making this adjustment the bike would be better geared given that it has a limiter.

Since I'm a mechanical / bike noob, I just wanted to ask the community about their opinion of changing the front gear. Maybe someone has already done this?

EDIT: oh, and the attached file is just an Adobe PDF. Adobe Reader installed on your iphone should allow you to view these types files: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-reader/id469337564?mt=8

I would leave the gearing stock. The CB 1100 is a nice bike and runs great.

+1, the engine has good torque all through the rev range as is.

Did the shop want to change the sprocket just for the test in an attempt to get around the speed limiter?

if can find +1 tooth sprocket, I would do it in a flash. There is plenty lowend torque, and I think the gears are a little much too low, good for 0-60 MPH test but not practical in daily use.

anyone who has +1 sprocket installed and tell me where to find it.

+1 cbdtran. The fuel mileage and top end speed would be better. 1 tooth on the front = about 3.5 on the rear best I can remember. But your rite the stock gearing on the CB11 is low with lots of torque. I will do some research and see what I can find. But I'm sure we can find 1 tooth bigger for our bikes. Sprocket for front is not very high in price but it should be the same as a few of other honda bikes. I will have to find out first what the stock one is for the 13 & 14 should be the same.

Seeing as you are a beginner, I would say don't chain the sprockets or flash the ECM. 110 is already way too fast for a new rider. Just enjoy the bike how it is; it has loads of usable power and it's a blast to ride right out of the crate.
