Having found sometimes a few grease particules onto the rear carrier (where my wife holds her hands...) I tried the following bricolage to reduce grease projections over rear of the bike :


To make this, I used some rubbish I found in my garage : a thin piece of black PVC (0.6 mm), and an aluminum plate, 2 mm thick:





Once assembled with a bolt and nylstop nut, it looks like this: (I also put a double-sided adhesive layer between the aluminum and PVC tab)





Not sure it will be really efficient, but it should capture a part of the flying grease - I hope so !

Got the new red side covers in from CB4ME (and huge kudos to him for the smoothest transaction ever, and lightning fast shipping - great guy to deal with). I really liked my matte black covers, but somehow colour-matching them to the tank just seems more "right".
Besides the covers, the mods now amount to the Tiro seat, Moriwaki frame sliders, adj. brake and clutch levers, Grip Puppies, the NC Street Shield EX windscreen (that I'm not really using) and the SuperBrace that I still haven't installed...unfortunately, none of that is really obvious to the untrained eye, but then, that was really the plan from the beginning. I guess not bad for only two months of ownership, regardless, but I still feel like I'm falling behind some of you! LOL

it seems that the only single passenger seats are cafe racer style. Any others?

I literally love this bike so much that I suffered by the thought to leave it alone during a business trip. The only solution was to make the trip by bike instead of flying or going by car or train. So I packed my few things and went from North Germany to West Germany with my CB for a business meeting. “Enforcedly” I avoided freeways and used the much more beautiful country roads. And I managed to extend the trip a bit to have a nice ride in North Rhine-Westphalia and to the Netherlands as well as to visit one of the bigger traditional biker meetings. In sum I rode 1500 km

Okay all: I got the bike today after 2 hours of suffering through the parts, accessories, and service department sales pitches. Said NO a few times to the extended warranty, signed a bunch of paper and was out the door except for a few issues.

They have to replace the right side controls as the red button is nicked up during shipment and I must call in the morning as I noticed in the late sun that the left black bezel on the speedometer is also nicked.

Two rides, first to get it home in the blazing Texas heat 19 miles, and then second ride this evening so now has 80 miles.

Last ride on the 2013 was on Sunday with a ride on my BMW yesterday.

Tomorrow I will do back to back rides in the early AM and compare.

But here are my first gut impressions.

Seat will still be uncomfortable or any extended riding, feels better but it will hurt in an 1.5 hrs of riding.

Transmission feels smoother!

6th gear is nice to have. ( I did not think it was a big deal) but I like it.

The gear indicator is nice, the smaller turn signal indicator lights and location are not appreciated.

The engine feels smoother and feels like it has a bit more torque. Sounds a bit different also.

Both bikes have the same tires Bridgestone, but I will confirm in the AM.

The bike seems better planted on the road, handles slightly different, more stable.

The change in the left control locations between the horn and turn signal caused me no issues. In fact I think the new design is better and more intuitive. I would convert the 2013 to the 2014 design, not the other way around.

At second red light after leaving the dealership; a fellow on an HD my age late 50s pulls up and is very excited. He says "Wow that is just a beautiful bike, I love it. How old?" I told him does even have 2 miles just left the dealership and it is a 2014." He was smiling bigger than me, excited and said he is going to go get one. I have not seen that much excitement except from my son on Christmas morning when he gets his Lego Star war sets.

More to follow as I do some rides and take notes.

I will replace the pegs as I need the extra length for bad knees.

Oh and those little pegs on the foot rests just plain suck. They keep hitting the back of my shins when I have my feet down at lights.

In the old days you just ground the pegs. Whose stupid idea was it to add these ground feelers?

I must go read the manual as much as I can to learn how to use all the fancy instrument stuff.

I just ordered the airhawk2 seat pad model # AH2PLN. 11x9 should fit the front part of the seat if not I can return for refund or exchange. I will post when I get it Thursday

After mowing the grass at my cabin, I drove my CB over to the neighbors property for a chat. He loved the look of the 1100 and then motioned me to his shed where he had a CHERRY '76 CB750 Four with a Vetter fairing and padded sissy bar and asked if I was interested in purchasing it.

Then on my way home, with the CB750 on my mind, I stopped at another gentlemans house to look at a set of Keystone Classics that he was selling and I happened to notice a covered bike in the corner of his garage. '79 CB650 Custom that he was interested in selling as well. - What is going on? Two in one day!

Hi, I have a charging problem, it's actually on a CB900 but I'm thinking that the charging systems will be pretty similar.
All the yellow wires from the generator check out as per manual specs, black and white wires also fine, but only getting 14.5 volts A/C out of each wire when using AC volt meter between single yellow and ground. No volts coming from Reg/Rec so thought that was faulty, I've replaced it with a new one and still the same results.
I always thought that un regulated you get about 30 volts AC from the generator

Monday here was a great day for a ride. sorry not many pictures.
By 10: upper 60s and sunny and would not get above low 70s all day.
(yes I am trying to rub it in for all the people in the southwest)
The goal was to ride to Belmont Wi. and only ride on county roads.
Our county roads all are letters - A , D etc..
So leave the city on "D and ride to Belleville then to CC to C which go's to Monticello. Then stay on C heading to Argyle. The roads get
much more rolling and most don't have many shoulders as you go west. The more west we go we have to avoid more horse droppings
in the middle of the road. My wife reminds me that it is Monday and
the Amish travel on Sunday. Then G out of Argyle to Belmont.
Great ride! Lunch at the Belmont truck stop and pick up some Amish
candy for later. Now try to make back to the city on this tank of fuel.
North to Spring Green then home. Made it 173.5 miles and 3.048
gl. of gas. so almost 57mpg. My wife got 90mpg. Well at least she
didn't get 100mpg like the last ride
